Ravens Nest Spa — Attraction in Alaska

I work full time and go to school full time. Needless to say my stress levels are always at all times highs and my time for self care is at all time lows. For months I have been dreaming of getting a chance to simply relax and have a nice massage and my dreams finally came true. This past weekend I had an “fisherman’s widow day spa package” appointment with Ravens Nest Spa as a result of getting a gift card from my sweet boyfriend on my birthday. I don’t normally write reviews, but I know Valentine’s Day is next month and people may be wondering what to get your significant other. THIS IS IT. My massage therapists name was Talea. This was by far the best massage I have ever had. I never once got the feeling she was trying to get it over with or did I ever feel uncomfortable. Talea was super detail oriented and attentive. The whole experience was so much more than I could have asked for and I was so grateful for every second of it. I was skeptical because as a skin care enthusiast I wasn't keen on spending $90+ to have someone slather a couple of masks and maybe remove a blackhead while they were at it. I can do that myself, pro bono, thank you very much.

was i wrong.

Sheila spent a good bit of time listening to l skin concerns and tayloring the facial to my skin. I fell asleep during the facial massage and clay mask despite having drank most of a 16 oz. latte. my skin feels like a million dollars. also, Sheila removed every. single. blackhead. definately worth the price.

aside from the thorough facial, the whole experience was enjoyable because of the attention to the very small details. the facial table was heated and warm, there wasn't a moment during the facial that I wasn't "floating on a cloud". it's the little things.

the spa is in a log cabin, there's a small sauna, massage chair and just a nice place to relax with a friend and just really enjoy the pampering.

Horrible customer service experience. Called for two appointments for my mother's 80th birthday. We were wait listed for today, (which we were ok with.) Fast forward to today, we received a call stating 2 spots had become available this afternoon for a couples massage. I explained it wasn't a couples massage we needed 2 separate massages. The lady said that would be fine, and we scheduled them. Right after that, there was a voicemail from the owner Sheila stating our massages were not going to be happening, no explanation, just that they were getting canceled. I immediately called back, the lady who answered said the original people who had the appointment called back and "uncanceled" their cancelation so they were keeping the appointment. This was extremely unprofessional and disappointing. It ruined my Mom's birthday weekend. This was our favorite place, but will no longer recommend them.
