Half for the facility, half for the staff. It was one of those things that just kept getting worse.
Initially I had responded to an Instagram ad for what I remember as a 30 day challenge but when I was called it was just a trial workout. Okay, fine. I'm gonna be out of town until here. Can we set it up for when I get back? The girl I had spoken to said she would call this date range to set it up. Nothing.
Then maybe a month later I got a call asking if I was still interested in a workout. Different girl. I set it up with her and went in that week.
Here's where my issues started The girl I had initially spoken to was intentionally off-putting. It was very obvious when everybody else was coming in and I just hated waiting at those tiny tables. I was initially told the towel and mat that are required were around $15 each. I thought it was pricy but not a huge deal.... $45 a piece when she found the paperwork. It's cheap, but branded if you're into that. They had said it was because they had other mats catch fire. When I asked about the fire the girl burst into laughter and said 'Of course not here!' The rooms are made for short people. I could not fulfill my poses in piliates in yoga or pilates because I touched the ceiling and both sides a good amount of the time. I'm 5'7 for reference. They said you could be forced to have 3 people in each room which is actually insane when expecting overweight people. Maybe that wouldn't be an issue in the cycle rooms but I had no interest in those. If you don't buy a towel/mat you buy a rental for $5x2 for each time. The one I got was coooovered in random colored long hairs that stuck to me as I sweat. The 'bathroom' is 1 toilet with 1 shower attached. They basically said don't use the shower unless it's 5 minutes and before you have to go to work. 6.If you don't sign at that moment, they act like you scammed them. I was doing trials of every gym and that was apparently a huge issue. And my biggest issue is that the guest pass system is more using you as a marketing tool. You can't have the same person come more than 3 times because 'After that they should know if they want a membership or not.' That's never been the point of bringing a friend here and there. Overall I found it overpriced and underwhelming.
*Yes, this is Montgomery....
Read moreReceived a free trial for a week, visited this location Saturday, Mia helped us and was very nice and informative. We did a workout and planned to come back and get a membership after the trial was over. The second time we came was today, 5/5 for a second workout. The girl working the front desk ( short with curly blonde hair) had no idea what we were talking about, was rude, and not helpful. She ignored us while we signed someone up for a membership without so much as saying she would help us after or be with us after she was done helping the other customer. This employee did not want to help us at all and we witnessed her not open the door for another person waiting to get in who rung the doorbell twice. We waited 20 minutes while she didn’t glance in our direction and when we left, she rudely said bye with an attitude. If a company is going to give out free trials, they should train all their employees on what it is they they’re offering and hire employees who have good customer service. This experience made me not want to invest in a membership at...
Read moreI’ll preface this by saying I HATE the gym and I despise working out in front of other people. Hotworx is my dream come true, really. The individual saunas allow private, intense, and enduring workouts which has allowed me to actually show up consistently to a gym without any of the anxiety. They switch up the workouts every 8 weeks so the on screen instructors are refreshing but still specific to the workout you are targeting. There’s a session for everything—core, Pilates, yoga, buns, barre, etc. I love being able to schedule freely, change my time slot if I’m running late or cancel without fees. I also loooove the heat because it makes the 15/30min workouts feel like I did way more. Lynda and Payton are the sweetest gals and are always so bright and welcoming and cheer me on every time. I’ve convinced all my girlfriends to come here which makes the group sessions so fun. I wanted to gatekeep this place but honestly it’s too good not to share and there’s so many class times that work with busy schedules, it’s (dare I say) the...
