I came here with my friends. Great safe place for flying a drone or also walking! This is the only legal place in Albuquerque you can fly a drone during balloon season, so the airspace can get a little crowded around sunset while the sun is best for pictures. The Rio Grande is so nice and big, but also murky and brown. (Not ideal for photos). My drone lost signal a few times while I was flying.. that was so scary. Maybe it’s the proximity of the road or the metal in the guard rails. Hopefully they fix the problem soon! There are some neat carvings on the trees of lots of COOL wildlife. Very impressive! After I flew my drone we went to a seafood boil restaurant and it was so yummy! I had a pound of unshelled shrimp in Cajun garlic butter sauce. (Watch out for the spike on their head!) These beautiful handcrafted wood sculptors stand tall and proud yet faded showing their age and wisdom. There are coyotes howlin' at the moon and an eagle whose wings are soaring free! Donut miss the cute squirrel sitting high above a pole sneaking an acorn or two and that cranky crane overlooking the walkers and joggers. There are numerous trails which mostly intersect throughout the open space. The trails run next to the aquaduct, and the river. You can expect to see a variety of insects, small mammals and fowl, fish, turtles, and the occasional porcupine.
