I had the pleasure of visiting during their recent 250th Anniversary celebration in Old Town Alexandria. I’ve always walked past it and now I finally got a chance to come in. There was a very educational docent discussing the history of the Friendship Firehouse Museum as well as cool artifacts. I didn’t get a chance to go upstairs but I look forward to coming back to explore more. The highlight (for me besides seeing the old fire ā€œtruckā€ inside was that the volunteers were hosting a little kids station in the alley next to it. Kids could hold a small hose to put out fires on a wooden house - a very cool activity if I had small children. One young child was very small indeed that the hose got the best of him and what transpired next was a scene straight out of a Tom & Jerry cartoon where the kid tripped and the hose started flailing about and spraying everyone in line - kids, parents, and bystanders! Kids were laughing, adults were thankful for a cool refresher in the 99 degree weather, and the volunteers jumped into action and took control of the hose. Everyone was laughing so I hope the kid was ok and that memory will stick with me for awhile of the Friendship Firehouse. Hopefully their next big anniversary is just as fun!

A pleasant little museum with some cool artifacts from the history of the place as a firehouse and general civic organization. It takes about 10 minutes to go through everything, so the collection is small, though it is unique as well. I'd give them another star if they were ever actually open. I just happened to catch them during a festival, or I still wouldn't have seen them despite living in the neighborhood for months.

A nice little hidden gem in Alexandria containing a rich history with amazing and well detailed, original and replica, artifacts; all in great condition. The curator or meseum guide was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, as well as informative about other historic and worthwhile nearby museums and exhibits.

There is a whole lot to see in this little building! Definitely check it out while in Alexandria.

They also have cute little fun things for children so definitely bring along your child/children especially if they are into firefighters, firehouse,...
