3 stars management. 5 stars for museum. I had been wanting to visit this museum for a few years, but I never got there because it seem to be temporarily closed off and on. Recently I was going to be in the area and I checked, and the website said it was open. I even checked the morning I was due to arrive. I got to the museum and it was closed! Fortunately, a woman came into the building as I was tugging on the doors and told me it was closed. When I told her I was a travel writer, which I am, she offered to find me someone to open it. A woman came with some keys and opened the doors and turned on the lights just for me. I greatly appreciated this as I was just passing through. However, when I mentioned that the website said it was open, it didn’t seem to be a big deal. Apparently the woman who manages the museum was at the international cat show that weekend, but no one had thought to post the closure online. This is a lovely museum and I enjoyed it. However, the woman who opened it up for me obviously couldn’t wait for me to leave, so I kind of rushed through my visit. So, if you’re planning on visiting this very nice museum, double, triple, and even fourple check to make sure it’s open, and even then don’t be surprised if it’s not. Also, the website that is linked to Google Maps was not a working website. You have to go into Google proper and search for it to come up with a proper website, and even that website is difficult to read. Makes you wonder if they even...
Read moreThis place was wonderful!!! Nicely put together, clean, plus pleasant & knowledgeable staff. Honestly it took me a good half an hour to chill out because, I brought my 1.5 yr old. Luckily they had a children's library/center, which for me as a mom to an extremely curious and rambunctious toddler, is a present from God. Lol All in all, this was right up my alley. I love how they had certain items for sale. But I especially loved the items dated back to the early 1900's. I just have a thing for vintage items. My parents have shown their cats for some time. So to learn some of the things they use to have to do back in the way day to show these cats, is very interesting. Not to mention they had a cat house/tree by Frank Lloyd Wright, which happens to be my husband's...
Read moreA friend and I drove 2 hours and 11 mins from Columbus to go to the museum. It was my friend's birthday and she picked this museum. I knew in advance it was going to be small but I wasn't prepared for the lack of history. If you are into cat figurines that you can still find at retail and thrift stores, you will like it. For a 2 hour drive, it was pretty disappointing. The lady who worked there wasn't the usual curator but she was very friendly. I am disappointed mainly because this could have been so much more...
