We purchased a 72" round wood dining room table on April 23, 2024. In the showroom it had no damage. When it was delivered and unwrapped the table had damage to it. The edge was damaged but of most significance was to the top. There was a 1" gouge in the top of the table. It was also obvious that there was a very poor attempt to repair it. There was also another small spot on the top. The repair attempt was done before it was wrapped and delivered. The repair attempt left a large discolored circle of approximately 12" to the top of the table.
I immediately contacted my sales person who told me they would have someone from HFI contact me and they would have it repaired and it would be as good as new. After not hearing from anyone for over 24 hours I posted a review highlighting my experience and immediately received a call from the owner who asked me to remove my review and assured me he would make it right which I did in good faith.
The repair person came on 5/20/24 almost a month after the pieces were delivered. The repair was not 'as good as new' and I was told a second visit would be required. We requested from the owner to order a replacement table. I was told the only options I had were to return the table or pick a different one. Unfortunatly had already sold our table and chairs to make room for the new one. When we were shopping at HFI this was the only set we cared for. The owner stated that to reorder a new table would cost more money and he would not absorb the cost. I was told via text that if I leave an unfair negative review then all the options are off the table and that HFI would be using all of their legal rights to protect their business and reputation. The repair person returned on 7/20/24. So after 3 months of waiting, the repair was improved but certainly not 'as good as new'. Since the repair was made on 7/20/24 I have not had any follow up from HFI to see how the repair was done and if we were satisfied. During this entire process we never heard 1 time from our sales person. Not once. We have not heard from anyone at HFI since.
When furniture is delivered you can understand that an accident can happen during delivery. What is unsettling is that someone obviously tried to repair this and delivered it this way knowing there was an issue. It was acceptable to HFI to send out a damaged piece of furniture. HFI also isn't an entry level furniture supplier so they should hold their standards for themselves to the same level as their pricing. Then the lack of customer service and the legal threats of intimidation was disappointing. The entire experience has not been a favorable experience. She always there when we need help or to provide feedback to our ideas. She always seems to have done her homework with feedback or suggestions regarding our requests. We love working with her. We also wish to recognize Felipe, showroom manager, for his friendly, cooperative and ‘can do’ attitude. No request made is unreasonable. He also manages deliveries.
