Wanted to really like this place from pictures I saw and other reviews but did not have a good experience. The only enjoyable part of the night was the over priced small portion of calamari that ended up be very tasty. Our server was nice but he was young, not trained well and overwhelmed with the few tables he had. I ordered the New York Sour which is one of their signature cocktails yet they don’t know how to properly make it. When I received it, I mentioned to our server if that was how it’s supposed to be made here but he had no idea what the drink even was and how the red wine should be separated and float on top of the whiskey sour. Another server said they’d make another one which I said not it’s fine, was just curious if that’s how they make it. He said well that’s how this bartender makes them which makes me know there must be inconsistencies between different bartenders. During my meal, they brought me another one complimentary, however this one was made worse than the first one and just looked like purple wine in a glass of ice. They obviously don’t know how to make the drink properly nor did they care to learn.
For dinner, we ordered the spicy pepperoni pizza. For a place that advertises authentic Neapolitan pizza, the crust was flat and not airy and looked nothing like photos I’ve seen or true Neapolitan pizza that I’ve eaten in Naples, Italy. The pepperoni also had a strong taste of hotdog and wasn’t that good. Our server asked us when he delivered the pizza if we wanted crushed red pepper or Parmesan. We said yes yet he never came back with either or ask how our pizza was.
Very disappointing experience and will know for now on to only stick with Antico if I want true Neapolitan style pizza that actually...
Read moreI've eaten at this place a few times, and their pizza is excellent. The problem is no matter how good your product is, if you don't have an equal or better level of service, then you are going to either lose your base or have one and done customers.
I called to ask for a reservation, and the gentleman that answered said, I'll transfer you to the hostess so she can put you on the call-in list. When the hostess answered the phone, she said they don't do the call-in on weekends. I told her that we would be arriving in 40 minutes, and she indicated that it would not be a problem.
When we arrived, the hostess told us that there is no seating inside and offered outside seating either in the patio area on in parking spaces outside. We chose the patio area. The hostess stated that she'd clean the table for us. After she went back into the restaurant and while we were still waiting, a group of 6 people arrived. The table we picked was the only table available outside to accommodate 6. The hostess came back out suddenly and told me that the kitchen was backed up with no estimated time when the food would go out; we asked if we can get appetizers while waiting, but her response was no, everything is backed up.
We decided to leave, and while turning back to walk to the car, you can hear the hostess telling the large group that she has a table just came available. She did not want to lose six people over two and used the kitchen excuse to dismiss us.
I may be wrong about my assessment, but I am sticking with it based on the entire interaction and the arrogance shown by management and ownership.
There are plenty of better pizza places in town, and I'm willing to drive the few extra miles for a...
Read moreWhenever I am in Georgia I make my way here. When I walk in I'm always greeted wholeheartedly the staff is amazing and efficient and they always seem genuinely interested in an individual. The brick oven makes the pizza so authentic and old world tasting, always delicious! I've been there during different times of the day, anyone who works in this area should be heading there for lunch. A great place to bring out of town guests or pop in to get a pie to go or have a date night. Sometimes I sit at the bar because I travel alone and the staff always recognizes me and comes to say hello. That to me indicates that it's a great place to work and the owners/managers treat their employees well and that makes for happy employees with low turnover. It's a nice place but has a casual vibe to it, it's not snooty at all, I always feel welcomed. One could even eat al fresco during the warmer months as they have nice patio seating as well. I appreciate great food and great service and if during my travels I find myself in Georgia and this isn't my destination spot for work I will drive miles out of my way just to eat here because it's just that good! If you live there and aren't onto this place make it a point to give it a go because I can guarantee if you enjoy authentic Italian food in a great atmosphere with a genuinely cheerful staff put Campania on the top of your list of places to enjoy a wonderful meal and have...
