This is the most racist and rudest Costco that I have ever been to. The employees on the floor are very arrogant. They are never cheerful and talk nicely. The cashiers on the other hand are nicer most the times. The only reason I go here is because it's the closest to home. On 12/18, I went to the optical department to buy glasses for my son and was being served by a duo of a tall white guy and a short young girl. My insurance apparently was out of network so I respectfully stepped aside to call my insurance so the next customer could be helped. When I came back, I verbally told them on two occasions that I was ready to make my purchase. Neither one of them bothered to acknowledge me or cared enough to let me knew whether they wanted me to obtain a new waiting number. For the record, I tried to get a new waiting number but the app kept telling me that my old number was still being served! At one point, I could clearly see that the young girl and a white female customer were rudely looking at each other then turned around eye rolling at me and my kids. I ignored all the sights because as a mom I had a lot going on, all I needed was getting things done and went home. As 5 o'clock came around, I saw there were three new associates came in to work. Neither one of them bothered to let them knew to assist me whom had been here for over 30 minutes. As I was waiting at the counter, standing in front of both of them, they both cowardly walked off!!! Yes, walked off their shifts without saying one single word to me or letting their coworkers knew that I was still waiting to be served. I finally realized what just happened, the new people were here to take over their shifts. But to be so disrespectful, never bothered to acknowledge, offered help or let me knew whether they would like me to get a new number was so uncalled for. I was sure that they would have treated me differently if I was not Asian and if I was black or white! Why I say that? Come and check it out yourself at this department, one can clearly see their tones when they talk to people of different races. It's the culture that has been running around this store just because they are in high demand and they can...
Read moreI wanted to share a recent experience I had at the Costco Alpharetta, GA location on April 20th, 2023 at 7:35 PM. As a customer of this establishment, I was subjected to discriminatory treatment by one of their employees in the optic department.
I was waiting in line to pick up my glasses and had taken a ticket like the other customers in line. The optician Lorena was busy helping another customer who came before me. I was patiently waiting. When Lorena, noticed that there were more people waiting, she asked us if we were here to pick up only. I responded affirmatively, but to my surprise, Lorena went on to help a white lady who came after me, even though I had a ticket and was next in line. When I reminded Lorena that I was next in line, she completely ignored me and continued to help the white lady. The white lady herself told Lorena multiple times that I was next, but she still did not help me. When I questioned Lorena's actions, she refused to provide an explanation and even humiliated me in front of other customers.
Feeling discriminated against, I requested to speak to a manager. However, Lorena refused to call one. I had to request other customers to get a manager involved. Katie, a manager, finally came and asked me to file an official complaint so that it could be investigated.
As you may know, anti-discrimination laws prohibit businesses from discriminating against customers on the basis of race. I strongly believe that Lorena's discriminatory behavior was based solely on the color of my skin. This type of behavior is unacceptable and has left me feeling humiliated and disrespected.
I want to share my experience so that others are aware of this issue and can be cautious when shopping at Costco. I demand an official apology from Costco and appropriate disciplinary action taken against Lorena to prevent this from happening again. I also request that Costco provide mandatory training to all its employees to ensure they are fully aware of the laws against discrimination and how to deal with customers in a respectful and professional manner.
Thank you for reading my story and for supporting me in my fight against...
Read moreI love this store. Every department, bakery, meat, prepared foods, alcohol, electronics, frozen and hard goods, just across the board is very well stocked, organized and has excellent customer service. The assistance at the checkout lanes is outstanding! Helpful, patient and knowledgeable. This is a very busy store and so sometimes the parking lot is a zoo, but that's just a testament to how great the store is! There has been one resource that is consistently below standard compared to the rest of the store (that's why only 4 stars). And that's in the pharmacy. In general everyone at the pharmacy is helpful, knowledgeable, just great, I can't say enough good things. But there is one young man that wears a blue coat and has short dark hair who I have seen on multiple occasions be borderline rude and or flippant with customers in front of me. He told a lady the pharmacy would call when her prescription was ready (she was holding a child) and then after that he said he'd check and lo and behold it was ready although he made a display out of "checking". There was another older gentleman surprised at the cost of his prescription and rather that some sort of customer service he was huffy and said something to the effect of he had no control over it. Well, of course you don't, but you could be nice couldn't you? The other resource at the counter, a lady, is awesome and very helpful. He doesn't smile, or greet people and in one transaction I had with him there was an awkward pause at the end where I said thank you and he just stared at me. Very odd and uncomfortable. Customer service is king. I'm...
