I'm giving this 3 stars based on past registration experiences only. This time around has been a nightmare! 1 star rating for this present experience. I have been trying to get my colt registered since Aug 2018! The first set of registration forms and check I sent in was lost (I thought it was just lost in the mail, but now I'm not so sure it didn't get misplaced at AQHA somewhere). It took forever to get proper forms back to the stallion owner to be re-filled out and sent to me. I finally get everything I need, fill it out and send it in (this is now March 2019 we're talking). My check wasn't cashed until May! It took several phone calls to actually get a DNA kit out, even though their records stated they had sent 2. Then let's not forget the getting the pictures sent 1 at a time...it took 3 attempts, and finally they received those. I finally get the DNA kit in June, send it the next day, as well as the confirmation of identification form to the listed addresses, only to receive an email approximately 3 weeks later that they have not received the confirmation form, only the DNA sample. I call them, and after getting a call back 15 minutes later, I am told that what they see on their end is the opposite, that they do have the confirmation, but no sample on record. WHAT IS GOING ON AQHA??? Where is the intra-department communication? It didn't used to be like this. I understand new computer systems and phone systems as I have just gone through such a transition at my own place of employment, but who is managing this organization? This has been such a frustrating process to say it mildly. I do have to say that, on the whole, the people I have talked to on the phone have been very helpful and courteous, but the last person I spoke to -Maribel- pretty much had a "this is how it is so deal with it" type of attitude. The last time I had to register a foal was about 9 years ago. The process was definitely not this grueling. I don't know if I'll be having any more babies in the future, but I really hope there are major improvements if I ever have to register...
Read moreI have to share how terrible this organization truly is. my father recently passed away and he owns quite a few expensive horses. we had people trying to steal and take possession of his horses after his death because of the value. I called the company and put all my fathers' horses on my account on hold.... they assured me no-one would be able to do anything with my dad's horses except me. (this is after they let one get transferred a month after his death) I gave them the personal rep paperwork for my dad's estate and was cleared to sign for my father ...... they instructed me to send in the original certificates so I could transfer them into the estate name and now are KEEPING THEM and saying that the certificates are their personal property and not releasing them back. This is because they accepted forged transfer applications 2 months after my father died and even after I had the notified them of what was happening and put a hold on his account..... none of it makes any sense. They are literally helping thieves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!this company is run by total morons who put themselves into legal liability. Heartless, unprofessional, don't follow their own policies, wait times of 1 1/2 hours, and every person says something different that doesn't make any sense. I can't believe this company is in charge of keeping records for such valuable horses. Everyone I talk to in the industry talks bad about AQHA and hates dealing with them. This is the WORST company I have every had to do business with in my entire life. THE...
Read moreI love quarter horses but i HATE dealing with the AQHA. I have been working with my horse's breeder to fix a mix up for at least 3 months. We have been in regular contact up until a month ago. They had everything thing they needed at the beginning of November and all of October was us checking and learning they needed something new every time. When i last talked to them at the beginning of December they told me they might have my issue resolved in 6 months. I feel like they are going to grade my show prospect and are planning to give me vague far out estimates until they think we will give up.
They say it takes a REALLY long time to move files from one location to another and that they have so many people ahead of us it might be 6 months, who knows. I do this sort of thing at work and we can fix issues like this in our database relatively quickly. I could do it in a couple days at work with proper signatures. I also work with numerous stereotypically slow organization like the FDA and even they aren't this insanely slow or vague.
And don't bother linking a canned response on where to go for help. My breeder calls weekly and i have called plenty. I know how to reach y'all, yall just refuse to...
