Donut Stop — Restaurant in Amarillo

We stopped here on our way through Amarillo. Donuts are not displayed so it is hard for kids to choose what they want. We could see trays of donuts behind the counter, so we asked for what we could see from there, but the lady kept going to the back to grab donuts instead of taking them from the tray. We asked for an apple fritter, the tray apple fritters looked fine, but when we opened our box later to eat the apple fritter from the back it was flat like a pancake. It's flavor was just grease and sugar. We also ordered maple donuts, and because the donuts were warm from the back, the icing had completely melted off of them and we basically just ate bread. We felt like they cheated us on purpose and would've gone back to complain and get other donuts, but we were already on the road and out of town. I'd recommend trying...

Came in town during my kiddos winter break stopped in at this location cause I wanted my kiddos to have some donuts from this "local favorite" the first time we went it reminded me of what I missed since moving away the Cherry glazed (childhood fav) and donut holes were fresh the ladies were, kind so I already knew my kiddos would want to go back on our way out. It's ok. I've had much better. When we pulled up, the parking lot was full of cars, making me think they were very busy and very popular. Not so. There were only 4 customers in the shop. I am guessing some of the cars are 'staged" from nearby businesses. Anyway, doughnut wise, they were average. I love apple fritters, so when I walked in and saw these large, puffy, delights that looked like the fritters that I grew up with, I was excited. What I got was a flat, slightly burnt fritter. While it wasn't bad, it was not what I was expecting. My wife ordered a maple cake doughnut. She got a maple RAISED doughnut. They were nice enough to get her a cake doughnut at no extra charge.
