The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum is an unexpected gem—both educational and beautifully presented. We weren’t sure what to expect going in, but it quickly became one of our favorite museum stops of the trip. The exhibits are well-designed, combining art, history, and hands-on learning in a way that’s engaging for both kids and adults. You don’t have to be a horse expert to enjoy this place—it’s really about American heritage, sportsmanship, and the deep bond between humans and horses.

One of the highlights was the Hall of Fame section, which honors legendary horses and influential people in the Quarter Horse world. The statues and portraits are stunning, and the digital displays made it easy to dive deeper into each story. The timeline of horse history and interactive exhibits also added depth, helping even the kids stay engaged throughout our visit.

The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the woman at the front desk went out of her way to give us context and tips on how to make the most of our time there. The building is beautiful and well-maintained, with ample parking and easy access from I-40. Whether you’re a fan of Western culture, American history, or just looking for a quiet and meaningful museum experience, this one is absolutely...

This is more of a club museum for all the important people in the club.

First off the entryway will take your breath away. The sheer size of the plaque and the space are amazing.

My kiddos enjoyed the museum and it's interactive section. There are a few faux horses you can dress up, brush, braid, sit on, and take pictures with. There is a coloring page section. The videos weren't connected to the internet so all the media other than the movie room was not working. There is a spot to weigh yourself as a jokey would.

There are rows of photos of people and horses from the past. Again, the media was all disconnected so no interactive parts.

The art is stunning - would come back just to look at the paintings. There are prints you can buy in the gift shop, but nothing framed and matted.

The gift shop items are good - stuffed animals, horse on a pole, books for kids/teens/adults, ornaments, pins, etc.

Adults were $10.00 and kiddos were $5.00. If you have a membership it is free - which I noticed because members were checking in.

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Parking is close by and there were ramps for strollers and wheelchairs. Also, an elevator indoors with bathrooms and...

I must be the outlier in theses reviews for I did not find this Museum worthy of visit, especially not at the $10 admission. The building was clean and the lady at the admission checkpoint was nice and helpful. However, this place is just a listing of all the winning horses with the main focus being their owners. There is a very brief, and I mean really brief section that talks about the quarter horse history but a lot of info to make this worthily of the “museum” name is lacking. I knew nothing about the American Quarter horse before this visit, and the only thing I picked up from my visit was that this horse breed is used for racing and only the ultra wealthy can afford this activity. I’d say the entire museum visit would last probably 20 mins or so, and I don’t see the value in spending $10 just to read about a bunch of rich folks who simply owned the...

The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame is worth the trip and doesn't take your whole bank account with it. It was very informative and so was the staff. I learned that the first horse appeared 60 million years ago and that actors were put with numerous different horses to see which horses would work with them the best. I had no idea that Robin Williams was afraid of horses and that Mixer made such beautiful artwork. I didn't know there was a branding language or that different types of horses were used for different purposes. I loved that they had an amphitheater and a little art room area. It was nice and cool. I really like the timelines that wrapped around the room and information about jockeys/horse races.

Visited on a Wednesday morning and two of us were the only patrons. I loved the history, old photos, artwork, and the various trophies on display. There is an amazing pedigree map inlay on the tile in the front exhibit hall. A small arena out back looks like it may host live demos or programs, although none were happening on the day we visited. A few of the interactive exhibits in the downstairs section were less than functional (touch screens not working, fruitless mouse clicks), and none of the upstairs movie displays were turned on (or working?). This museum would be even better if it had an interactive pedigree map to trace our own horses' lineage on site.
