Lost 3 minutes because I wanted to wait until the timer started so we had an actual time and when the screen updated it was already at 57. Got stuck for 12 minutes because they didn't explain how the lock worked, even though we had the code. I said multiple times that I didn't know how the lock worked and they then explained after he asked if we wanted a hint. The game we played was also only 1 room which isn't my favorite as it makes the game feel very stagnant.
We didn't solve it and the girl who came to get us from the room didn't even know the puzzle to be able to show us what we missed/what was wrong which was extremely frustrating. Why ask if we have any questions when you don't know anything about the room? lol
I have played many escape rooms across the west coast, Canada, and in the UK and typically there is an overarching story which leads each puzzle into the next. This isn't the case for this company and it was really lacking story-wise. It felt like it was just a theme with no substance to what we were doing. Each puzzle was separate from each other and didn't flow well.
The building it's in is also super old so the whole room shook everytime someone walked on the stairs which was startling. We could also hear everything the group in the room next to us was saying.
It's relatively cheap ($20/pp) so I might do it again but compared to other escape rooms I've done it definitely wasn't anything too exciting. I was expecting more given all the good reviews and was a bit...
Read moreMy husband took our son who happens to have High Functioning Autism. We called ahead to get some details-they were very accommodating to what was expected and what room they would recommend. They have detailed facts on their website that helped us tremendously. Telling my son what to expect when going to a new place helps him cope with his anxiety. My husband and I both felt that he was very prepared when going to the escape room. The room they suggested was perfect and not overwhelming for my son. They came home both excited and elated to return. As a mom with a child with autism I would highly recommend Idaho Escape rooms to anyone. One fact we did not know is that it was just my husband and son in the room. Knowing this helped that if my son couldn’t tolerate the activity other people would not have their time wasted or ruined. This also helped because my son does not do good in a competition setting. My son and husband got to move in a manner that was comfortable to them without feeling rushed. My son knowing that he could leave the room at any time was very comforting as well. No they did not finish the escape but they can go back to finish it at a later time and they are both very excited to do so. Thank you so much Idaho escape rooms and I do highly recommend for families with autism this is a safe place to have...
Read moreWe enjoyed Idaho Escape Rooms! My husband and I did the family jewel one. We made it out and had lots of fun! Edit:We tried the Amazon room. I do not recommend it unless you want to waste your money. The locks don’t work well and you will spend lots of time trying to get them to work instead of being able to enjoy the puzzles. It felt like such a waste of time and money and when I said it was super disappointing that they didn’t work the worker just said “yeah our locks are old.” The puzzles were also not intuitive at all! Well there were a couple that did fit together nicely, but most of them were so out of left field they would have to give you a hint for every little thing if you were going to complete it. We’ve done at least 20 escape rooms at lots of other locations and never had these kinds of issues. I think maybe that was just a bad room since the other one was so fun a couple years ago. I also wish they would have at least tried to help make up for it. Maybe a discount for more time to finish the room since their equipment wasted our time...
