Hands-down best tacos I've found in the Idaho Falls/Ammon area.

The birria tacos at Taqueria El Rodeo are by far the best birria tacos I've had since moving here. The consome has a great flavor as well. You definitely won't be disappointed. The asada and lengua tacos are good too! Nothing is lacking in flavor, that's for sure. Prices are slightly higher than others I've had (appx $2.40 per taco) but worth it in my opinion.

I've also had the verde enchiladas. The enchilada sauce had a slight vinegar taste to it so these weren't my favorite.

The salsa bar is fantastic. There are 6 different salsa options, all ranging in spice levels. You can also find limes and radishes.

The biggest downside? Taqueria El Rodeo closes at 8pm on weekdays. I have to cut it pretty close if trying to stop in on my way home after work - but it's worth it, in my opinion. The interior is kept clean and the food is served up quickly. Each time I've been here, I waited less than 15 minutes.

In full honesty, I've been here more often in the last two weeks than I'd like to admit. But I...

Be VERY CARRFUL if visiting Taqueria El Rodeo in Ammon. Went there for dinner last night and while paying they informed me “I need your card again, even after the transaction went through ( I had put in my pin and tip amount already ) the owner informed me they needed my card again that it did not go through SO I handed my card over for a second time and sure enough it charged me twice. I showed the owner it had charged me twice and they insisted they only got one transaction on their end. I had payed with my Venmo card so I waited to see if maybe one transaction wouldn’t go through where it was showing pending still, this morning I noticed both had gone through so I did create a dispute on the charges with Venmo but the owner refused to refund the 2nd transaction, so essentially I ended up paying 86.46 for tacos 😡 the whole time when she asked me for my card back I had a weird feeling so I wonder if they’re doing this as a scam for two payments hoping the customer doesn’t notice …please share this post to ensure it doesn’t...

We ate there for the first time yesterday, 1/14/18. We've lived in Idaho Falls for a little over a year. We've been to 7 Mexican restaurants here in town and have only returned to two of them. Both full sized restaurants, neither of which was great, just passable. We thought they were probably the best we were going to get here! After trying Taqueria El Rodeo here in Ammon, there's no need to go back to any of those other restaurants! Their pork, their shredded beef, the it rice and beans are BY FAR the best we've had since moving to Idaho! The service was excellent. Oh! I forgot to mention the salsa! Super great! Can't wait to try other menu items. They have a GREAT menu selection. EVERYTHING is fresh.NO canned stuff. All made right there. You order at the counter and they deliver to the table. No beer. No wine. And sadly, no margaritas! But the food is so good, you don't miss them! Give it a try! I don't think you will be disappointed. We're looking forward to o u r next...

I may have ordered the wrong thing here, but I didn’t really care for this place. I got a sonorense lingua burrito, but really it was a frijole burrito with some lingua. There wasn’t much meat and mainly soupy refried beans. Also, I checked their menu it was suppose to be toasted with cheese and there was no cheese at all. Just a normal bean burrito but for $12+. Thats unacceptable. My buddy got the super burrito, but didn’t get the lettuce or tomatoes. We didn’t realize these things until halfway through our burritos when we noticed they were just full of beans and hardly any meat. The salsas are really good here, especially the salsa quemada. Overall, the food is pretty expensive for just being beans, no meat, and they don’t make the food according to the menu. I don’t like to rate restaurants low, but I can’t recommend this place.

Way over priced** Beyond disappointing, especially for almost 3 dollars a taco. Meat was very bland and there was barely any onion and cilantro (carnitas had zero flavor or texture, should be slightly crispy). The breakfast burrito was $10 and had no cheese or any sort of flavor outside of the sausage in it. The hot sauce was definitely the worst in town.. this places rating is reflective of the side of town they are located, not the actual quality of the food. I've honestly never eaten Mexican food so disappointing outside of the union market on 1st street. Places to try: Garcias Meat Market, Tacos las Penitas, Tacos mi Pueblo, and Morenitas.
