Lots of mixed reviews about the Iron Press. I minds well add my two cents. It's kind of sad that I literally work down the street and only made my first this past Friday because of Costa Mesa Restaurant Week. The Iron Press is located at the OC Mix in Costa Mesa next to the Arc and Green Leaf Chop. Parking can be a bit of hassle during regular business hours but I went after 4pm and there was plenty of parking.
Iron Press featured a dinner special during Costa Mesa Restaurant Week: Fried Chicken Waffle Sandwich, side or tater tots, and a flight of beers for $20. I brought a large group of friends with me, about 10 or so. I prefer this location over the one at the Anaheim Packing House. The atmosphere is open with both indoor and patio seating. The main feature is the bar seating but there are a few high tables and booths available. Just to note, reservations are not offered.
I ordered the dinner special and chose my flight (4) of beers. The selection was great, with beers from many of the local breweries - i.e. The Bruery, Bottle Logic, etc. The food came out pretty quick, about 10 minutes and boy o'l boy, was it good. I have not tried the Fried Waffle Sandwich before, but it may be my favorite now. The portion is rather generous compared to other sandwiches I've tried (Reuben & Bratwurst). The sandwich also contained bacon, fried egg and cheese. The chicken was so good and my friends also expressed the same feelings. We also were allow to pick out our own sauce...I went with the jalapeno maple syrup. I was skeptical about it but went with it because I wanted something a little spicy. Everything just meshed well together. Flavors were on point.
The service was awesome! Three main servers tended the group and gave us anything we needed. They also offered us taste testers for the beers since most of us were not familiar with the whole tap list. It was just a great experience. Good service + Delicious food = Winner! I will be back sooner than later. Follow them on Facebook for special promotions i.e. Tap Take Over on...
Read moreWe came here after starting at Villainâs brewing, the management and experience was a villain to our experience so it is properly named! We quickly left Villain due to the horrible service and wandered down the street and found this gem inside the packing house! We are so glad we moved on! Eddie and Angie were working and were ABSOLUTELY THE BEST to sit and share time with while having some drinks and food! They were so funny and Personable, served us well, the food was delicious and drink selection was off the charts! It was like they werenât employees but friends! We even met Chris the manager and he was nice and cared about your experience! This place is a true treasure! Come enjoy your night and time with them! Eddie and Angie are your people, tip them well, they deserve it and will earn it! Thank you guys! We came back more during our visit to CA since this place was so awesome! Not villains! Go here and love your life...
Read moreStaff always friendly. Beer choices always great also like the blue rasberry cider they have had lately. Seating outback comfortable. The food though...we have been coming here since day one and the food quality has drastically gone down. I ordered chicken and waffles this past Friday. It lacked everything. First off the chicken was like biting into a muscle. This usually happens when chicken is cut wrong. It was disgusting and the waffle was so soggy in the middle it was mush. I couldnt even eat the meal. Husband got the smash burger and though he said it tasted good black grease was dripping from it. Tator tots still good. To have your business in a location like this with so many choices you should keep the quality up.Plus prices are high so for a disappointing meal like this it stings even more. I would never eat here again. Bring back the crunch of the...
