Almost Everything was great but it was the fried chicken that I came for. It was discribed as being herb coated and buttermilk dipped cornmeal fried chicken so naturally this is what lured me down to georgias. It was a bit confusing, only because I had never been to the packing house before.
The packing house in it self is a wonderful restaurant Co-op esk building with a wonderful melding of people's and cultures and the very thing that transcends cultural misunderstandings...... food! The packing house is a hidden gem that you wouldn't really know about unless you are from anaheim, which I am not.
Now back to my original subject of georgias and her herbed fried chicken. Everything was wonderful I only wish that her fried chicken in all its golden brown glory had a touch of salt! Being a soul food restaurant the last thing I expected to see was a buttermilk herb rubbed cornmeal fried chicken with not even a pinch of salt which robbed this fatboy of and experience that I have been waiting for my whole vacation. Though I could have easily added a pinch of mortons table salt it would have been a false victory. What Georgia did well was baby it and cook it to perfection. Don't be afraid of enhancing the flavor with a bit of salt. It was enough to demote the chicken from great to good.
The real blind side from georgias was her smothered porkchop. It is fried to optimum crispyness then smothered in a savory bacon gravy that has soo much flavor it will break your taste buds and spoil everything you will taste after that. It will do all this while at the same time somehow maintaining a remanence of its former crispy glory. It really was a treat.
Georgias is a spectacular restaurant and I highly recommend eating here. The only reason I demoted georgias from 5 to 4 stars is 1. For the lack of seasoning on the chicken and 2. They brought us out the wrong sides which was quickly rectified. This wouldnt normally be a full star demotion but I couldn't...

When we saw the menu here after coming from a double graduation at CSULB (some of the party of about 50 went here) the reviews were not good. When I asked about the po boy sandwiches and they said there’s 10 shrimp on the sandwich so I opted for the shrimp basket which was ALSO 10 shrimp. Nothing was under $10 so you could eat here with $10-$30 per person. The shrimp and garlic fries, horrible. The shrimp looked decent but that’s about all. ZERO seasoning. Better falling off, garlic fries are fries with a clump of minced garlic sitting on top!! Not good at all. My hubby had the chicken and waffles he said the waffles were good but the chicken was bland, crunchy but bland. ZERO SEASONING. The iced tea was really good to me. My grand kids had chicken tenders and fries also bland and my 3 year old grandson didn’t like it and wouldn’t eat. Three of my sons had the po boy sandwiches and said they were okay BUT they have never had a real po boy mind you. They were NOT raving over it but they said they were passable but they would NOT buy it again. My nephew had some fried fish and immediately went back in because he said it was like they fried it dipped it in water and put it on his plate. So he got the blackened catfish and said it was OKAY. We are a family whose entire background is from Louisiana, Texas, etc and I will tell you THIS FOOD IS OFFENSIVE when it comes to having a true down south menu. I am literally offended. It’s that bad. Oh and the peach cobbler, the girl asked me if I wanted it warmed and I said yes. It was ice cold and doughy and bland. No taste of the spices and the sugars that are supposed to be there. None of that thick delicious juice, nothing! horrible! I would never visit this place again. Try it if you like but I’m warning you, WE ARE WARNING YOU it is not good. If you are looking for well prepared nicely seasoned southern cooking it’s not at Georgias. Message me if you want some names of places...
