Went to Andover eye for a second opinion for not seeing great after having double cataract surgery done. My Appointment was at 10 o’clock, I called the day before to see if I should come in early because I was a new patient. she said yes, 15 minutes to fill out paperwork. Got there at 9:45 called in to room at 10:30. The unfriendly Alaina, checked my vision, with machines and eye test, she seemed very annoyed that I wasn’t saying the letters back fast enough for her liking. She then proceeded to put drops in my eyes and I sat in room for 25 more minutes. Then doctor came in for 10 quick minutes and said he thinks I should remove the $5000. Lens that I paid out of pocket for and that 10% of people that have the same lenses as I do,that he does not like or use,, have all the same issues as I am having and that I should have original doctor remove lenses and put in regular lens in. I would also have to wear glasses to read and drive., but it would get rid of the the halos. Not a realistic solution for me. Bottom line is todays second opinion about me not seeing great after having cataract surgery in both eyes, was a big waste of time and energy for myself and my husband who waited for one hour and 45 minutes. You wanted to know my experience, well sorry to say it was not a good one. A little advice from a woman who has been on this earth a lot longer than you, pick your assistants who represent you very carefully, they are the ones that are a reflection of you and your practice, and they need to be kind to your patients, not cold. 🙁 and unfriendly.
In response to your response to my post., below... It is all in the bedside manner of your doctor and the doctors assistant. I know that you have to wait 25 minutes after drops in your eyes. Have had many from Doc Fogarty in salem New Nh , went to her for 20 years, (who sadly retired) who you could of learned how to treat your patients from. I do not think you read what I said about Alana being impatient when I was reading the letters on the chart, nothing to do about waiting for the drops. and I take offense about how you thought my opinion of the Mr Quick Doctor was about that I didn't like what he told me. Wrong again! Do you think that you did your doctor that represents your practice, a favor by defending his cold mannerism. NO,No,NO your not. Both will go on being who they are because you are defending their actions, instead of just saying so sorry that you had a bad visit, so sorry. that they did not meet your expectations., and will let them both know how just being friendly and kind is just as important as their knowledge...
Read moreThe doctors and techs here are great, however I’ve had a horrible experience in dealing with reception/office. I went to urgent care on a Saturday afternoon and found out I had a corneal ulcer (which is very serious as you can lose your vision). The urgent care doctor contacted andover eye and spoke with a doctor who told me to come in first thing on Monday (since they are closed Sundays) I get there and receptionist is pretty rude to me and taken aback by this fact rudely tells me I need a referral from my PCP and I HAD to sign a form (saying I didn’t have a referral?) though my doctor had sent one over. I get seen by a doctor all is well.. I needed to start a prescription that day... 2-3 hours after appointment I go to my pharmacy... no RX there. Call andover eye and the receptionist I spoke to told me I WAS SUPPOSED TO TELL HER I needed a prescription and asked me for all the info... (that’s NOT the responsibility of the patient). Anyways another 3 hours go by and I call my pharmacy... still no prescription. I call the office again to which they say they’ve closed early because they have no AC and she will contact the dr. I need the meds for my eyes or I could have permanent scarring and possibly blindness... I can’t believe how terribly, unprofessionally, and insensitive they were... still waiting for my meds which I was supposed to be able to start today and do 4X. Love the doctors but in an emergency this was handled incredibly poorly on the part of the office workers. Very very...
Read moreAndover Eye Associates' office staff that are poorly trained and violate the HIPPA law.by sharing patient information with all non medical staff in their office are allowed to behave like this by the owner(s) of the practice. They also charge $40.00 for your eye glass prescription as punishment to force you to buy your glasses from them. As no charge applies when you use their practice to purchase glasses. Whether Medicare allows the charge or not it is an option for a practice to charge it. I never in my lifetime and I am quite mature, paid for my eye glass prescription from my eye Dr. Andover Eye Associates with it's unprofessional practices towards patients of other Drs. who sub contract space from them, by not allowing patients' appts. to move forward as planned with their appts. and suggest their physicians in the place of the sub contracted physician is incomprehensible. Also since they canceled my appt. with my sub contracted physician, I keep getting automated messages reminding me of the appt. they canceled, to be rescheduled, as well as another automated message received on Sunday May 4, 2025 at morning at 9:02 am in the morning telling me to call to rearrange my appt. that they canceled. What can one say......they simple do not know what they are doing!?! And obviously do not care about...
