I'm the type of person that when I travel, I always check out reviews and pick the most accommodating spot that I feel would be appropriate for my particular occasion. So tonight I took my father to Burtons. We sat in a booth at the bar. At first I would say we were thoroughly impressed by how nice the restaurant was and how quick our server was there to take our drink order. I had the Mai Tai, and my father had the Margarita. Both were delicious. So after a few minutes, our server came to take our order: Bread service as our appetizer, I wanted a side Caesar salad, and our entress included the chicken sandwich with fries, and the Classic burger- m/well (no onion, no tomato) also with fries. I had noticed that our server did not write any of our order down. And personally from my experience from going to different restaurants, I am thoroughly impressed when my server can remember the entire order, and ring it in correctly. But this was not the case.
First, my salad came. Which was fine, it was delicious. But I was wondering about the bread service... That had not arrived yet.
I finish my salad, and the bread arrives. Looks great! Puffy, flavorful and came with an oil/pesto, olive tampanad, and garlic butter. But, not more than a minute later, our sandwiches arrived... And the Classic burger I had ordered was wrong. They presented me with their other burger covered in their special sauce, and fried onions. Normally i'm not picky, but if i'm spending $18+ for a burger, I'd expect it to be close to at least prepared correctly. My father finishes his sandwich and my correct burger arrives finally. No apology, not even asking if we are enjoying anything. The fries were cold, and in clumps all stuck together. Normally I would tip 30% Because i've been in the industry my entire life. But last nights experience was unacceptable. I appreciate the amazing atmosphere, but unfortunately this will not be a restaurant I'll be...
Read moreWe go here fairly regularly and normally it’s pretty good, besides getting the temperature of our steaks mixed up from time to time. Normally we enjoy it here but we went last Sunday and the service was awful. We sat at the booths in the bar area. We had to wait a while for the server to even ask what we wanted to drink, the drinks took so long I had to ask her to check on them.We received the appetizer and had no silverware, we asked for silverware so they brought us some but without napkins, when our entree's came out they messed up the sides, the manager brought the entree back with the correct side but didn’t even realize he was brining it out because it came out with the wrong side to begin with. He brought out Brussels sprouts with a side of ketchup. This is where I had mentioned to him everything going on and that we still didn’t even have napkins. He just apologized and gave us napkins. He seemed totally overwhelmed himself. Then the couple that sat next to us had to ask to get their table cleaned and for silverware as well. The waitress said they were out and waiting on some to be clean but immediately came out with silverware (same waitress). The place wasn’t that busy to be out of silverware. They may have been understaffed but I’ve seen the place way busier than it was that day. The waitress was nice but was very Lackadaisical. We used our rewards card and got a discount that way, which we received because we earned the points but not even a complimentary drink. Was very disappointed with the service and actually didn’t recognize a lot of the staff that day. This review is based on this experience alone. I would give it another try because we have been there before and enjoyed it but I hope staffing is...
Read moreI'm out on this place. Seems like a nice restaurant with good decor but the food was lousy. First off the second we walked into the restaurant we were hit with Karen vibes, it is North Andover after all. Pretty busy for a Tuesday night, parking kinda sucked but got a table right away. I never been to a restaurant that I remember I had to pay for bread. It was $5 bucks but still thought that was odd. We ordered drinks and it was more ice then alcohol, I felt nothing. Considering it's a signature drink on the menu with the sphere ice cube it lacked flavor and was just for show. The appts sounded awful so we passed. I guess you can say the bread was our app. I ordered the chicken piccata. It was like eating a soggy used condom with battery acid. The chicken was cooked but had no color. The 2 end pieces were barely done while the middle peice looked better. The angel hair pasta was cooked good but the entire dish ate so acidic. All I tasted was this nasty lemon flavor that over powered the dish. I assume it was lemon flavoring because it definitely didn't have a true lemon taste yet the dish was topped off with a lemon as a garnish which didn't taste like the lemon used in the dish. I ate the whole thing and didn't send it back because I am not that type of patron. My wife ordered the braised short ribs and it was anything but tender. She had a tough time eating it as most of the rib was all the fat parts, anything but braised. We were disappointed sadly in the meal that we didn't bother getting dessert. The local Maine beer I ordered was really good. The Burtons food is between the Captial Grill and 99, which are both better options then this place. Sadly we will never return to...
