I have had the pleasure of visiting Jay's CD & Hobby at Merle Hay Mall multiple times on the weekends, and each visit has been a delightful experience. The store boasts a friendly and knowledgeable staff who are always eager to assist customers in finding exactly what they need. Whether you're searching for a rare trading card, the latest video game, or a unique piece of anime merchandise, there is always an expert on hand to provide guidance and recommendations.
One of the standout features of Jay's CD & Hobby is their team of specialists. They have dedicated experts for various interests, including trading card games, video games, anime, and Gundam models. This ensures that customers receive informed assistance from staff who are passionate and well-versed in their respective fields. Itās evident that Jay's CD & Hobby places great importance on having the right people in the right positions.
The store offers a wonderful family-friendly atmosphere, making it perfect for a weekend outing with the kids. The staff's enthusiasm and willingness to help create an inviting environment where both children and adults can explore their hobbies and interests together.
While Jay's CD & Hobby is known for its impressive sports card collection, it is worth noting that there isn't always a dedicated sports card expert present on the weekends. However, this has never been a significant issue for me, as the staff members are always more than willing to assist with any sports-related inquiries or needs.
Overall, my experiences at Jay's CD & Hobby have been consistently positive. The combination of knowledgeable staff, a wide range of products, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout destination for hobby enthusiasts and families alike. I highly recommend paying a visit to Jay's CD & Hobby at Merle Hay Mall for a fun and engaging...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in twice yesterday and one guy that worked there was great. The first time I was in there, he was friendly and asked if he could help me. I bought two items from the store.
I opened one of the items and it was broken. I took it back later in the afternoon. Troy was working and didn't want to exchange the defective product. Troy kept arguing that if they took the defective product back that they would be losing money, which I get. Anywhere else, if you bought a NEW product and it was defective they would take it back. I did ask him how I was supposed to know it was broken if I didn't open it. His response was "how was he supposed to know that I broke it."
The other guy that was there then stepped in and said that they would exchange the item. He went to the back to see if they had more, while Troy slammed items around. They did have the same item and it was exchanged. The other guy that was there, opened it up and made sure that it wasn't defective.
I want to support local businesses, but customer service needs to be a priority. Not taking back new defective items, and accusing customers of breaking items isn't the way to go. Jay's has a lot of good items for collectors, but the customer service is always...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first visit to the store. Typically, I go to the other 2 Jay's.
First, I did not get a hello or welcome to the store which was unfortunate because at all the other stores that is a common practice.
This store has a decent layout, lighting, and is well organized. This store is not as big as the other 2 stores in the Des Moines area and is not as busy, but has a good mix of items. They have more sports trading cards than the other 2 stores.
The service is not as great as the other 2 stores because I stood by the glass counters and walked around for almost 15+ minutes, and none of the 3 staff members, who were all by the cash register counter (1 looking at his phone/computer for most of the time, 1 just standing there and talking to the other 2, and 1 at the cash register) asked if they could help me. At the other stores, the staff is more attentive and ask you almost right away if you would like to see something or need assistance.
Lastly, the music they were playing in the store kept skipping like it was connected to bluetooth but the phone it was connected to did not have a good internet connection which made the atmosphere even more uncomfortable and...
