Spavia Day Spa - Ann Arbor — Attraction in Ann Arbor

I am a bit of a spa junkie, so have had massages all over the world, and I can honestly say, my massage with Adrian at Spavia Ann Arbor, last week, was one of the best massages I have ever had! While I love a good firm massage, I have persistent low back pain and am super sensitive to any level of pressure in that area. As such, I always tell my therapist to go super light on my low back, but I still want that area massaged because I feel like I really need it. Normally...it is pretty agonizing when the therapist gets to that area, even with lighter pressure (I just "grin and bare through it" though, thinking this will help relax those muscles and make me feel better!). This time, like I always do whenever I get a massage, I explained this to Adrian, and not only was she very cognizant of this during the massage, but much to my surprise, by the end of my massage, my low back did not hurt AT ALL when she touched that area! I do not know what Adrian did during that massage, but her technique was PHENOMENAL! I couldn't believe it, as I have NEVER had that happen in a massage! Adrian is amazing, and I look forward to finding a therapist like her, where I live (in Ohio)! Thank you Adrian, for a wonderful, and super relaxing, experience! If I am ever back in Ann Arbor, I will definitely be back in to visit you!

PS. The icing on the cake is that I loved everything about this spa...especially how they encourage you to leave the worries of the world, outside the spa, and truly retreat into relaxation. It was just one hour...but I felt completely rejuvenated after!...

Everything was wonderful from the great customer service to the relaxing atmosphere, the amenities, to the treatments, and the knowledgeable technicians. They are very communicative leading up to your appointment and very friendly when greeted at arrival. There’s a form you get to fill out asking you what kind of music and scents you like for your experience and they even ask you what type of conversation level you prefer. That is especially my favorite part because there is nothing worse than trying to relax when someone is talking to you. They also didn’t try upselling me at every point, which was another refreshing aspect of my visit. They have all options outlined on their website as most spas do, so I get a little stressed out when that happens, which goes against the whole point of the visit.

Con: One little thing - I would actually give 4.5 stars if possible. The description of the Age Defying Facial on their website states that it comes with a complimentary neck and shoulders hot stone massage. I feel like that is very deceiving because I don’t recall the use of any hot stones and the massage lasted all of maybe 10 seconds. There was a long, slightly awkward period where I was just lying there while the moisturizer was “doing it’s thing”. That would have been the perfect time to incorporate a little extra massage and would have really tied the whole experience together perfectly. With that said, my technician did a fabulous job. She was very knowledgeable and my skin felt great afterwards. I will definitely visit...

This place then came highly recommended and it did not disappoint! We went there to celebrate my friends birthday, and they made her feel like a queen along with all of us! The women’s retreat room was very relaxing and cozy. I also appreciated how clean it was. The robes were so comfy!! First I had a facial, and it was out of this world! Best one I’ve ever had. She even took the time to tell me special ways to take care of my skin, I appreciated that so much. I can’t wait to go back and get pampered again. It’s been three days and my skin is still growing, my husband says I look five years younger from one treatment!Slice of heaven!! Next I had a massage but not just a massage -a Hot stone massage! Wow, what a treat! Definitely worth extra to get the hot stones, such are unique and wonderful experience. Finished the special day with a makeover from an amazing woman. She was not only fun, her touch was light as a feather! When the makeover was over and I turned around and looked in the mirror I got the hugest smile on my face! My goodness,I felt so uplifted and She definitely made this girl feel like 1 million bucks with the magic makeup touch!Perfect for a special evening out with friends! I definitely will be going back to this spa to pamper myself some more soon and to get some of the products that was used on my face during the facial! Especially the vitamin C serum!Highly recommend for over all top-notch...
