Came here with Mom and some of her friends. Nice walk, beautiful landscape, tiny gift shop, and just a relaxing place to visit. Takes about a few hours to see everything. More if you take your time and just chill. Addition - 10/6/2022 - Went to the Green Spring Garden. It isn't hard to go to as I used the DASH bus and Metro Bus. The Gardens are open at dusk but the Horticulture Center is open at 8 AM. It took me about an hour to walk about. There are a few gardens, pinds, and some hiking trails to enjoy. There is also a histroic house that opens at 12 noon. There is also a Glass House, a gift shop, library and Garden Gate Plant Shop that opens around 9:30 AM. I took a can of tea with me to enjoy as the weather was kind of warm. It wasn't very crowded as there was some groundskeepers, walkers, and some doggos. But school buses did unload some kids when I was leaving so it may get crowded depending on the season and if they have events. Which they sometimes do. There are also lots of restaurants nearby to have lunch at...
Read moreBeautiful gardens with a spacious courtyard and a short 1/2 mile trail crossing a creek to a pond with 2 fountains and a gazebo. The entire garden and pond is a mile. During blooming season, the flowers are beautiful and colorful. There's an old mansion on the grounds, plenty of parking with s parking donation box located in the parking lot, a visitor center, a garden center, and they even offer summer camp and classes. This garden is a great place to have a picnic and to walk your dogs. Super dog friendly and there are trash cans located throughout the garden where you can dispose your trash and doggy poop bags. The main entrance to this park off/on Little River turnpike is blocked/locked. To get into the park entrance, from Little River turnpike heading east turn left on Braddock road and turn right on...
Read moreWell well, this review is long overdue! Last year we visited 'Green Spring Gardens' for the first time. Around the beginning of Spring on April 28, what a beautiful place to visit.
It's a public park that includes a historic 18th century plantation house. Green Spring is in the heart of a national historic district listed on the National Register of Historic places in 2003. This garden is also part of Fairfax County's park system.
It's beautiful, peaceful and the gardens are well maintained. There are plenty of shady spots around the walkway areas, ponds, a garden shop, a tea room in a historic house that includes a small gallery to exhibit local artists, a children's garden and herb & vegetable gardens.
The staff are helpful and friendly,
The more you see, the more you like. It's worth a visit this...
