Andre was an awesome game master give him a raise. He put up with us for 3 games.
I work at an escape room, came here while on a trip with some of my co workers because of a recommendation. We played all 3 rooms. The setting and attention to detail was amazing and almost the best I’ve seen. Especially for the building they had to work with. They have Multiple room games and enough space for big groups without being insanely big to the point you have to run back and forth. The difficulty levels also weren’t super insane so the average adult could solve most of the puzzles without help. When we did get clues, we didn’t need any puzzles completely spelled out to us step by step. It was simple nudges that pushed us to solving them. Everyone in the group had a different favorite room, they are all amazing!
O’bannions safe: My personal favorite. You basically get multiple different themes of escape rooms in one game. Very interactive hands on puzzles. Definitely focused on puzzles more than overdoing the storyline. We played the bigger version of it, our game master showed us the smaller one and it was still perfectly comfortable with all 6 of us in it. Very impressive layout as well. My favorite part about the room was the diversity of the puzzles. Had this been my first escape room, I would have gotten a feel for a lot of the different types of puzzles that you find in a lot of rooms.
The Pharaohs tomb: Wow. We were a little hesitant to do this one, as the Egyptian theme is a little overused. But this was a new take on it I wasn’t expecting. This one required more teamwork than the other two, and the puzzles favored those with good observation skills. Only downside was it did get a little stuffy, but there was plenty of space so that’s an easy fix with a little bit of air circulation/Fans. It’s also the start of summer in Texas so that’s completely understandable.
Wongs Chinese: This was the most unique room, as well as the one we were specifically recommended. And I see why. The rooms are authentic and stunning. Almost movie-like at times. One thing I noticed about the game is that when you get to the last room(s) it does get a little chaotic. The first 30 minutes of the room is somewhat linear so it does kinda give you a bit of a whiplash. I also feel that since everyone was doing something different it was kinda confusing and not everyone got to experience all the major puzzles. However, that may have just been the group we had and we may have rushed it a bit. But it kinda felt like half of figuring out the last few parts was ‘where did you get that?’ And ‘Wait when did that happen?’
(Also, I wont go into specifics for spoiler reasons, but there was a few parts of the wong room that had a little bit too much direction. Just a few ‘extra’ clues with instructions of the next step. Since this one has won awards and will be on a lot of enthusiasts bucket list, maybe a few tweaks can be made to make a more difficult version of the game for those who request it. Just an idea :)
They are very accommodating and show they care about everyones experience. If you are hesitant about going, buy your tickets and support them....
Read moreI cannot adequately say how wonderful our night was at The Perfect Escape on Fri Feb 26, in the 9pm slot. The Pharaoh's Tomb is a beautiful escape area with interesting and fun puzzles and details. I have an entertainment and theatre background so can easily appreciate the care and detail in place for the experience. We had a group of 10 people celebrating my son’s birthday. All had a great time.
When we first arrived, some weren't sure where the door was. The building has a plain and unassuming office exterior. Look for the logo on the window and read the signs. Entrance is on the west side of the building.
Only three of us had been to an escape room before, but they all felt this escape room was far more interesting, fun, challenging and detailed. They also said, unlike Pharaohs Tomb at TPE, in the other escape rooms, traps and interactive elements did not work on their own. Those venues required progression events to be triggered by staff in control rooms every time players completed tasks. Clearly this was not the case in our room. We directly triggered every puzzle to the next level through the specific actions we did on site. It gave a feeling of authenticity and accomplishment. I don’t know at what point I forgot about the world outside, but shortly into the experience, we felt completely immersed into our goals and the tomb world. Very challenging, requiring all of our individual skills to solve and progress. The room was so good, they may have ruined us for lesser rooms! We made it out with 52 seconds to spare LOL. We are thinking about next time- Many of us want to check out the Chinese restaurant room in The Perfect Escape.
We also used their party room- which was a converted conference area. They allowed us freedom to bring in our own food and decorate. We even left our stuff in the room which they locked during our escape. It worked out great for us. What a convenience. Staff was super accommodating and helpful...
Read moreThis review is a long time coming. It is a very well thought out escape room, and in our opinion The Perfect Escape has some of the best rooms, and was perfect for a marriage proposal. We have been so busy we have not had a moment to write an equally thoughtful review. I had been planning to propose for more than 2 years at this point, trying to incorporate something fun, things we love to do, something creative and involve our children. The kids (they’re actually grown adults), and I went on a mission to find the perfect place for the proposal. I had found a custom etched bottle of wine to deliver the message but simply handing over a bottle of wine was not super fun or creative. Over the past few years, we had started a family event each month going to an escape room and then dinner…it provided the perfect cover. So, our mission was to find the perfect escape room for a proposal. The kids and I completed many other escape rooms around DFW and these were dismissed pretty quick as they did not have the right feel, the staff wasn’t very supportive, the rooms were too small or it only had one room and lacked a theme that was appropriate. We like some complexity; creativity and the clues had to make sense and tie the story together. After doing all the rooms at The Perfect Escape we selected Mr. Wong’s. Being somewhat foodies, it was the perfect choice. Multiple rooms, spacious for friends and family to participate, complexity that was challenging but not impossible. The staff was amazing! Taz and Anna helped coordinate the event, working thru the details in email. They were so thoughtful, they even got us a cake to go with the bottle of wine. One year later we had our dream wedding in Santorini Greece. So even though this is late, we still want to thank you for helping to create the perfect proposal and we look forward to coming back...
