Terrible customer service!! Poorly trained staff that are rude, slow, and inconsiderate. I had been in Echter's a few weeks ago looking to buy several things including a couple of roses. Looking through all of the roses, one named Dark Night caught my eye, but they didn't have any in stock. I returned a week or so later and they still didn't have any. Today, I called first and told the lady who answered I wanted to make sure they had some before traveling 10 miles to get there. I was told they had 6, but that was based on their system and not someone actually verifying what was available in the retail space. When I arrived about 30 minutes later, there were 0 on the floor and I got a lady whose name tag simply said "T" to try and assist me. I told her I had called approximately a half an hour earlier, was told there were 6, but didn't see any. She suggested that maybe they had sold all 6 during the last 30 minutes. I questioned how likely that really was and she said they had been "really busy." I asked if she could check their inventory again to see if it now reflected 0 in stock, and after chasing her around the store to 2 different computers because she couldn't remember a password, was finally told that they still reported 6 in stock. She called someone on her radio who said the inventory system was "really messed up," and eventually went to a non-public greenhouse and eventually returned with 2 Dark Night roses. When I said, "so there were only 2 and not 6 with none on the retail floor," she promptly yelled at me to "just pick one!" This whole ordeal took around 20 minutes and another 10 minutes to check out because there weren't enough cashiers. From not having products in the retail space, grossly inaccurate inventory management, rude employees, and overall terrible customer service, this place is just too poorly managed to warrant driving so far. There are other options that are closer, cheaper, and with friendlier employees, even if they don't have as vast of...
Read morePros: Extensive products and greenery! It's a big location and they have everything you need for indoor and outdoor greenery care. Supplies for terrariums? Yes! Want to buy or make your own bonsai tree/zen garden? yes! Air plants? yes! They have random cute things like organic lotions, bee themed aprons and tote bags. A wide selection of trendy plants like Monstera Deliciosa, Monstera adansonii, Fiddle Leaf Fig, ZZ's, Birds of Paradise, Peace Lily's, Money Trees, Alocasias, ect Cons: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pay attention to the plants you get before buying!!! I was so excited they had Birds of Paradise (Orange flower variation) but quickly saw they were not healthy. Leaves were wilted and yellow. I left with a rubber plant instead and isolated it for two weeks, as I do for all new plants. No issues with this plant. I came back for a couple of succulents and had picked one up but upon inspecting the leaves, saw a mealybug! I nope'd out of that section and went to the other side where I picked two others that seemed healthy. So far the bigger succulent is alive and healthy, no problems. The smaller succulent turned out to have spider mites and is currently in isolation after some treatments. NONE of my other plants have pests and I was lucky enough to have spotted these spider mites BEFORE they spread to other plants. Unfortunately I decided to forgo isolation of this smaller succulent in terms of planting it with another succulent so both have the mites and both are currently being sprayed with a combo of castile soap/Neem oil/water mix. Again, be careful and inspect your plant before taking it home and isolate,...
Read moreResponse: sorry but you denying you overprice things is not correct. Quit trying to lie to everyone. I love how this year I go see how much the spray cost just to see and you list it at 35 dollars. Yet I bought it last year and you had it at 65. Amazon still prices it at 25. My Point shown. and 8 dollars for a plastic plant tray is ridiculous. Like I said I never should've paid the outrageous prices last year and I'm glad I won't be anymore EVER. Original listing: Putting 4 stars because this place is amazing and staff does a great job and has excellent selection of plants and items and have enjoyed it for about 14 years. But last time I went I think will be the last. I needed a plastic pot and it was around 16 dollars for "medium" tabletop size. So overpriced for plastic. On top of it, the tray for it for 8 dollars. Why would a tray cost that much. It's a TRAY not a pot. Then I got a fungicide/ insecticide/miticide blend spray for the hose nozzle. Every year I paid for 32 ounce of this stuff for 25 dollars if anything and this time they charged me 65 dollars. Even the cashier was shocked wondering why my order was 95 dollars or so after tax for a plastic pot and some spray bottle. But it was correct because the prices were jacked up. Made me even more mad that I looked up for the hell of it the price of the spray on Amazon after I got home to see if that's just what it cost now and nope, They had it for half what Echters charged me. I get it you're a small business but it's ridiculous to jack up these prices this bad especially when they were fair in years past. So there's no need to go...
