DONT EAT HERE!
DONT WORK HERE!
Oh boy do I have a review for you, ex-employee here. I was only with Kickin wings for a blissfully short time. Over the months I worked there I discovered some terrible things about this place. While I was willing to be on good terms with Shauna's(the owner) family because we had gone to high school together, the way they are neglecting g their responsibilities toward an employee is despicable. While this firat part has little to do with the quality of this restaurant, stick around I'll get to that. I have yet to receive my W-2 and its currently March 12. According to the LAW you have to have the W-2s mailed out by JANUARY 31, I messaged shauna and she pussyfooted around and came up with u realistic excuses, obviously I contacted the I IrS and I'm currently trying to figure it out. The way this place handles its employees is terrible too. I never received a pay stub. When I was first hired I was promised $12 by shauna. Well her mom (Julie) handles the pay and I apperantly was NOT making that. The entire time. There is a tip jar on the front counter. We are told that when a customer asks if we split the tips to say YES. when, in reality they are literally dumped into the cash drawer or Julie's pockets, I'm not kidding. Her actual pockets, in front of us. For a whole I was a delivery driver on busy days and I only got the tickets that they new didn't tip, or at least not well. If it was a good tipper Shaunas brother Garrett would be the driver so he makes the most. Shaunas adorable child would run around of course, leaving g his junky toys all over the place so you could trip on them too.
Quality: I was only present for one health inspection and they did things slightly different. On a normal day they take a box of chicken and dump it into this large, greasy plastic container and let it hang out next to the fryers. No ice. No way of cooling it in any way. Just warm, raw chicken waiting till someone would order some then they would be dropped (usually with BARE HANDS) into the fryer. Then those SAME, RAW CHICKEN HANDS would open your styrofoam container and bag. Then they would was the 30+ minutes u still those tiny wings were cooked and huck them uncerimoniously into the bag. Usually letting sauce spill everywhere. When there would be a health inspection coming, the chicken cart would magically be in the walk in cooler and we would have to run from the kitchen to the back room for every order. The pan to transfer the chicken had holes and would drip chicken blood all over the floor. THEY TOOK CHICKEN OFF THE FLOOR. When ever julie or shauna were not around I saw MANY employees grab the accidently dropped chicken and toss it right into the fryer...
Read moreGetting our food wasn’t a bad process seemed quick and the woman working there although she seemed more interested in her phone conversation and her many man walking in. She was polite. After getting home we quickly realized that the fried pickles we had ordered were a mess with none of the breading attached to the pickles. We also ordered two kinds of wings one with a wet sauce one with a dry seasoning. The wings with the wet sauce were perfectly fine yet the wings with the dry seasoning were completely flavorless I mean absolutely no flavor and no taste. (Before I continue let me say this we have eaten here not once but twice before there is an older gentleman and a young gentleman that work in there and when I mean the food and their attitudes were on point.) This time absolutely not the same. So I called I actually called just to see if there had been a mistake and if so I would have drove back I live very close literally on the same street as the restaurant. When she answered and I explained my wings she immediately got nasty and told me I was wrong. After a brief back and forth I asked for a refund. She then told me no she wouldn’t do that. And I was SOL. She never once asked to fix the issue she never once cared. She gave me a sorry you feel that way. That is absolutely not how you treat local customers I’ve lived in this area for a very long time. We enjoy all the restaurants that are here and we very rarely have any issues. If another staff or management reads this understand you do not treat customers this way and if something is wrong fixing it is the first solution not accusing customers of being wrong or being ignorant and nasty. We will not be returning but I will be going to record the store and posting it on my other social media. Restaurants with management like this don’t stay around long.
Also update she called the cops that’s absolutely laughable. I’ll be getting my $20 is court because that’s absolutely ridiculous definitely not a local business to support.
2nd update…Received a ticket for harassment dear ole Shauna clearly has issues and after reading and taking copy’s of all the reviews with her name very specifically mentioned I can’t wait to see her In court. After speaking to two other people whom had issues as well one who left a previous review we found out that they are very trans and homophobic which is very interesting because me and me wife had gone in together and now I have to deal with this. Mrs Owners wife won’t get away this time I come attorney ready. I’ve read reviews going back 10 years with very similar complaints....
Read moreI try to avoid giving bad reviews since it can have such an adverse impact on a business, but these guys deserve it. When we arrived the woman that helped us was nice, but we noticed the other woman in back cooking the food seemed upset and was talking rudely to her co-worker. We were the only one in the restaurant except an older couple and a boy, and we quickly realized this was the angry woman’s parents and they were babysitting her son. I’m guessing she was going to close early and when we showed up, it ruined that chance for her. There was still two hours left until close so not sure why she was in such a rush to leave… assume it’s because her parents didn’t want to watch her son any longer. When she delivered the wings to us, she threw them on the table and didn’t say a word. We asked her for ranch and as she was walking away, rudely told us they don’t have any. Her parents seemed frustrated with her and we listened to an exchange where she seemed to get mad at them. The wings were ok but over-cooked, but the sauces were tasty. The fries werent cooked through and were cold. We ordered some chicken nuggets and they were still frozen. The woman cooking our food was the same one that was mad at us for showing up and she was going to make sure we paid for that. If the owners read this, I hope they fire her because she is a horrible employee.
Coincidentally, the response from management seems consistent here “you must have the wrong business”. There is only one Kickin Wings I know of and it’s the same one I’m reviewing located at 4999 Kipling.
Also, there are three women that worked there at the time we visited. There were two women working as I mentioned, and another woman that came into relieve the angry woman when we left. The child wasn’t behind the counter, but sitting in the dining area.
If your truly the Owner, I’m surprised you have amnesia about all these women who were working there...
