I've watched Oconee Youth Playhouse (OYP) and Oconee Youth School of Performance (OYSP) grow and thrive since 1998. Have loved seeing young people from the Athens/Oconee and surrounding areas develop their talents and have tons of fun in the process. OYP is a non-profit that stages high-quality musical theater productions. OYSP is a performing arts studio where students can train in dance, voice and acting -- from age 2 1/2 through high school. Not only was my child racially discriminated against, she was bullied by a group on stage and the staff was terrible at dealing with this situation. I don't know how these people were raised, but I would definitely NEVER EVER ALLOW my child or anyone I know to ever attend . Shows to show people are very fake all reassurances about child safety are not done to the fullest potential. Its fake attitude. Do not attend if you DON'T want to experience discrimination or bullying. FAKE.

The directors encouraged him to audition for his first show, and several years later, he hasn’t missed an opportunity to be on stage with his OYP friends. Most recently, the directors and several OYSP teachers and students, took time to watch him in a performance outside of OYP.
