From the moment you walk in to this nondescript bland eatery it is unimpressive. Food is ordered at point of sale, and the menu does very little in way of descriptions it is obvious after tasting the food why. There is no love of food, there is no imagination. The entire establishment lacks any real style just another boring lunch menu with nothing that stands out. Plates arrived with no silver, and when it was brought out it was handed (bare hands) without being wrapped in napkin and sat on the plate by the server. So many no-nos. The dish a orzo salad greek style had no flavor at all save the olives and feta. This dish also offered as a orzo pasta sans (without) greek accoutrements (olives, feta and spinach) would have had no seasoning what so ever. Not a fleck of pepper, a shred of any vegetable even the pasta itself had no seasoning (Salt like the sea) is how pasta water should be prepared! An orzo pasta salad should brim with diced red peppers, green onions, small pits of grated carrots something to bring color onto the white plate where a white pasta sits coming from a bland indoor dining area. Hugely unimpressive. One should at the very least know what food should taste like before opening a...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try this new place, to us, on a Friday night. Our food came out in a timely manner and restaurant was cleaned. After eating a chicken salad sandwich and a Turkey club with a cup of chicken noodle soup (which tasted like campbells home style chicken soup); the rest of the food was average. We decided to get dessert and sample their baked goods. Before that my husband got a go box and placed the reminder of his sandwich in it. When we returned his food in his go box was thrown away. It was 7:30 and the restaurant closed at 8 pm. We were upset but didn’t make a big deal of it. We proceeded to take our dessert outside and eat it, so we wouldn’t disturb them, they were on a path of cleaning and shutting down the restaurant. The staff was staring at us because we chose to eat our dessert outside, rather than take it to go, we felt very uncomfortable, and it was a rude experience. The dessert was not that good it was a cinnamon roll. We cleaned up after ourselves and headed home. We will not be back, we did not like the fact they were rude to us staring at us and threw our go box away. Hope someone else has a...
Read moreLet me say that I really wanted to like Joe and Sam's. Oconee County/Watkinsville is in need of more eateries, and I was excited by a new place that specialized in breakfast, treats, and more. However, I have been consistently disappointed. The food is bland, uninspiring, pricey, and, at times, downright stale. Collectively, those in my household have ordered sandwiches (ham and cheese and tuna fish), soup, hot chocolate, cinnamon rolls, and brownies. The ham and cheese sandwich included a slice of cheap American cheese (no Swiss), there was scarcely any meat on the tuna fish sandwich, the bread was limp and scarcely toasted, and condiments were forgotten by the staff. The soup--chicken noodle--was warm but had little taste and the vegetables were very undercooked. The hot chocolate was bitter, yet weak. The brownies were ruined by a coffee flavoring (and as far as I know they were not advertised as "coffee-infused brownies"). However, most troubling of all was the rock-hard cinnamon rolls. This business must be upfront with their customers that they are selling stale pastries. I will not be returning to...
