It's not exactly clear (to me) where Herbert Taylor Park ends and the Daniel Johnson Nature Preserve begins. Regardless, the true gem in this network of trails is a sand bank "beach" along the creek. It's a great spot for dogs, kids (with supervision), AND their adults!

A fun trail to explore. The purple X on this map is where the beach area is, which is fun for dogs and humans to play around and get in the shallow water.

It's never crowded, has great water features, and feels largely untouched. Great retreat for creatures of 2 or 4 legs

I was really excited to find this little piece of forest in the city. I walk my dogs there and don't even mind how muddy it is.

My real problem is the ridiculous amount of off leash dogs. Today I walked for maybe thirty minutes and was accosted by three unleashed dogs. One came barreling towards me and my dogs and i had to scream to startle it and its owner came after it. Another one the owner was with it but still it is very unsafe. The third dog had no identification and followed me home so I took him to...

This park has it all. An old growth forest, two creeks and 14 champion trees. The second Saturday of every month, we volunteers get together with to remove invasive plants. The cool thing is native plants usually come up in their place. I've seen trillium, sensitive fern and elderberry fill in spaces that were once covered with ivy and privet. Also, the hawks gain an unobstructed view once the Chinese and Japanese privet are removed so they can...

This is a City of Atlanta Nature Preserve and NOT a dog park. If you read the park rules you will know that all dogs are required to be on a leash. The neighborhood has met with the Parks Department and requested more aggressive policing of the off leash dogs to control the dog on people and dog on dog attacks. Please be a responsible dog owner and keep your dog on a leash or go to a...
