As a stay-at-home dad and a full-time online student, working out and my social life took a back seat for a couple years. When the weight and the loneliness caught up with me, I thought about joining a local gym but knew I would end up working out alone... and thatās not really what I wanted. Some friends told me about CrossFit, and after visiting several āboxesā I settled on CrossFit Identity.
Their facilities are A+, with much better equipment and a cleaner overall appearance, than some of the other ones I visited.
They have 3 dedicated 101 classes per day (Monday-Friday), which was great, since my only experience with strength workouts was the dumbbells from the local gym and the āCrossFit WODS,ā that I saw online, looked very intimidating.
Iāve been going now for about 2 months, and CrossFit Identity has met all of my expectations. Blaine, the coach for the morning through mid-afternoon classes, including the 101s I frequent, is a beast. He has a great talent for breaking down the workouts into ways and movements I can practice and understand. He knows when to push me and when to encourage me to go beyond what Iāve ever physically done. I enjoy the challenge, it is definitely what I missed in my day-to-day life.
Since Iāve joined Iāve lost about 10 lbs. and feel much healthier and stronger overall. I thought I might feel overwhelmed by the community aspect (since itās easy to disappear at a local gym on a treadmill in one of the corners), but the members of CrossFit Identity are extremely welcoming and inclusive. The owners/coaches, Eric and Brandon, are always available to chat with... and Iāve had many questions.
I fully recommend CrossFit Identity to anyone interested in health/fitness/community. It is a great place to work out and make friends.
As a side note, they now have a dedicated, air-conditioned, room for kids to hangout in while we work out. My...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently became a member of Crossfit Identity in April 2018. I attend classes 3 to 4 days a week. I have a fully equipped home gym that I could easily workout out at home but truly enjoy attending classes, getting help from the coaches, and attending the seminars held at CrossFit Identity.
One of the best things about my short time with CFID is that Iām making new friends in the area; something that has been a challenge for me since relocating to Atlanta. Iāve met several parents whose kids attend school with mine and Iāve also met a coworker whom I never would have met if it werenāt for the CFID. The community is diverse, supportive, and easy to connect with.
From a fitness standpoint, in the short time that Iāve been a part of the gym, Iāve gotten stronger, developed new skills, and most importantly, started to re-develop my confidence. The programming is a nice blend of ātraditionalā Crossfit with some nice twists. The flexibility of class times coupled with āOpen gymā make it easy to workout and practice new skills, do strength training or work on technique. Coaches are always ready and able to provide guidance as needed.
Iām looking forward to continue to develop friendships and to challenge myself with the help of the coaches and community at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf it is close by, consider yourself lucky.... if its not, it is worth the drive!!! I was completely new to CrossFit and from the start this place has been amazing! The owners are friendly, approachable and very involved with the classes and the members. The atmosphere they have cultivated in the gym is awesome and really unique. Everyone, from the owners, to the coaches to the other members, is super friendly and supportive... regardless of your fitness level or CrossFit experience. The group feels tight knit and the camaraderie makes showing up easier and helps get you through the toughest parts of the work outs. The coaches are diverse and great! They are clearly very experienced with CrossFit and fitness in general, but they are also amazing teachers. Not everyone who can do something is great at explaining to others how it is done. These coaches have that figured out! They are great at breaking down complex movements so they are more learnable and figuring out your individual sticking points. Everything can be scaled up or down to make it easier or more challenging for athletes of all abilities. Every facet of my experience with CrossFit Identity has only been positive and I cannot recommend this place enough. Stop reading about it and come see...
