Northwest Library at Scotts Crossing — Attraction in Atlanta

I usually don’t like to share reviews like this, but I do think that it has to be said. Upon entry, the library is extremely neat. I was impressed with the setup and how everything looked. I walked up to the circular round desk to get assistance on opening a library account. I hate that I didn’t get her name, but she was extremely rude. (Older Black woman, average height, with curly short extensions). When I began to start talking, she looked as if I was bothering her. I will state, that she was completing a task; however, she was the only one at the desk. I didn’t have my ID for her to verify my information, so I told her I would go get it. If looks could kill! Her body language was so off putting and unwelcoming. I honestly dislike when I meet people like this who work in the public sector, especially a community library. According to previous reviews, it seems like I am not the only one that has had a negative experience with this particular individual. It takes nothing to be nice and have a positive attitude towards members of the community that you are serving. I suggest that whomever is in charge have a honest conversation or an inservice on personable skills. The overall experience was disappointing. I was minding my own business at the Northwest Library, taking care of my daily tasks, when I was viciously attacked by a male and a female patron. Shockingly, the library staff stood by and did nothing to protect me. There was even a Universal Security guard present who failed to intervene.

What’s even more disturbing is that the library director witnessed the incident and told the young woman and me to "take it outside"—after I had already been assaulted.

At 4pm a staff member helped me open an account they assisted well as expected.

Around 7:30pm grumpy staff member (brown skinned woman with a country accent) threw me out of the study room which i didn't know close so early. She was watching me pack my things. I felt watched and profiled by her. After getting my things she did not want to assist me with checking out a book even though i explained it's my first time here. She stared at me and told me to use the self checkout. She then breathed in heavily then assisted me. I didn't appreciate her eyes following me as i walked away from the counter.
