There’s a lot to love about Bellwood Coffee, but I don’t want to bury the lede. Bellwood has, hands down, the best coffee in the city. They source and roast their own beans, use some sort of magic formula to make the smoothest and tastiest coffee around. It’s to the point where I get disappointed at other coffee shops because it doesn’t compare to Bellwood.
Bellwood Coffee shares space with the Jim Adams Restaurant, a fantastic hyper local farm-to-table restaurant. The collaboration works really well, the coffee draws you into the restaurant, and the hot breakfast (and delightful smell of freshly prepared roast chicken) keeps you there.
The owners and proprietors of Bellwood are brothers and committed coffee geeks. It is not uncommon to come in and see them tweaking some drink or using some elaborate contraption to make iced coffee. Their older brother painted the murals on the inside of Jim Adams, and occasionally fills in as barista. You can tell from their product that this family loves what they do and have a passion for the craft of coffee.
Jim Adams Restaurant is a great space – brightly lit with natural sunlight, seldom crowded, and with plenty of seating options. The location, about a mile south of the South Cobb exit of 285 (and down the street from the former B’s Cracklin’ BBQ) brings a much needed local coffee stop along a long stretch of fast food joints, but may be a bit too far west for most ITPers. I predict that as the word gets out about their coffee, people will flock to this...
Read moreAlright… SO - everyone knows their coffee is delicious… But today I had an experience. As someone who has spent 8+ years in the food + bev industry, I’m pretty passionate about great food (creative cook over here).
Today I went into Bellwood and was SO hungry - being a coffee shop I didn’t expect much other than a pastry or average tasting breakfast sandwich. The barista working at the POS, Carrie, told me to try out the BEC (bacon egg and cheese breakfast sammy), and that it’s one of her favorites on the menu (I’ll admit, it’s not what I wanted but I tried it since she recommended it).
Folks. When I tell you I was SHOCKED, and the goodness that came from the BEC… so simple but so gosh darn good. Not too heavy, the egg cooked perfectly, the bread toasted just enough, the bacon cooked excellently, and the arugula to add a light touch - you will NOT go wrong getting this sandwich next time you come in for some coffee. 10/10 would highly recommend, and will be back for this again. Thanks Bellwood crew, compliments...
Read moreIndustrial-retro design, sociable staff, delicious coffee. . . This new cafe checks off all the marks! Things you should know: I. PARKING There's parking directly out front. When I arrived on a weekday around noon, it was full! But don't worry, you'll see plenty of other parking areas nearby as you drive up to the location. II. SERVICE The staff member who took my order actually carried genuine conversation. It was above standard and not your superficial "how are you" lingo. I also liked that they provide a serve-yourself water station. III. QUALITY I got a cappuccino here and was pleased with not only the cute latte art and ceramic dishware but also the milk-to-espresso ratio. So we'll executed that I HAD TO order another! The interior design is applaud-worthy as well! I appreciate the owner's green thumb, nurturing the live plants everywhere. IV. CAPACITY Busy in the mornings but tapers off in...
