My experience at Nubiance was absolutely horrible. My 17 year old son had a scheduled appointment with Vicki (co-owner) at 4pm as a new client to chemically treat and color his hair for his prom ( about 2 weeks before prom). At about 5pm, Vicki looked at my son's hair and discussed the plan with us to get it to the color he desired. Around 8pm after my sons hair was washed and dried I asked Vicki when will begin to work on my son's hair. She told me that it is a process (as if I didn't know that) and she wants to be able to take the time she needs to focus on doing his color treatment. I remained as patient as I could because my son was excited about the color he was getting. She stripped his hair around 8:30. At 10pm I asked again, and this time I could tell Vicki was annoyed with me asking her questions about time. She explained again that she wanted to take time with him and now added that it would not be fair to have her regular clients wait while she worked on his hair. (Which is ludicrous because we had an appointment just like everyone else. That was made 3 weeks prior). We did not leave because the process had already been started. Clients came in and left before us. My son and I ended up leaving the salon and heading back home to Lawrenceville at 2:37am. That's right in the morning. Absolutely ridiculous. Vicki had every excuse in the book for why she completed his service absolutely last, but never apologized. We paid and left. The next day after carefully looking at his hair, my son decided that he was not completely satisfied. We called that very next day and spoke to her husband, who was always pleasant. He told us we could come at 6pm. She did not even look at him untill 8pm and that was after I asked her 2 times about when she will look at his hair. She took me aside and was clearly upset. She then looked at his hair and then she told him that that was what he asked for. After darn near arguing with us, she told us to wait for her to finish her clients. We ended up leaving at 10:30pm. When she was finished with his hair I asked to speak with her. She then asked me, how can I help you. (As if it was her first time meeting me). I told her that this entire experience was extremely unprofessional. I told her that time is money and my time is just as important and valuable as hers and that if she would have told me in advance (when initially looking at his hair) we would have spaced out the appointments if her schedule was too booked. I was surprised at Vicki'sâ major attitude problem. After all, I am supporting your business. She was very rude. And she had so many excuses for why our experience did not turn out well. It was nothing short of crazy. I was extremely disappointed and upset, but remained respectful to be a good example for my son. His color turned out okay, but the experience was the absolute worst. Continuous prayer kept me strong and of God throughout...
Read moreI hate to leave this review, but itâs a MUST. For starters this was my first time here. I scheduled my appointment for 10am. I walked into the establishment on time for my appointment to be finally seen around 10:35. There were 3 hairstylists present that were all taking turns to help each other Iâm guessing. Every time a service was done to me (ex. Wash, detangle, blow dry) I was left for 30+ mins. A client came in late and was still able to be seen which interfered with my service because my hairstylist was trying to manage more than one client at a time. During the consultation of my hair I was told they would charge me extra because my hair wasnât detangled (I had braids in before) as a hairstylist is that not your job? She tried to explain that too many clients came in with tangled hair which prolonged the process, but at that point you would need to make time for that. From previous experiences else where I have never had this issue with my hair being tangled. Also, one of the 3 stylists made a joke that I had dread locks in my hair while she was detangling which I didnât appreciate. The same hairstylist that was making jokes didnât even know my name or what services I had requested and had to get corrected. Lastly, when you book a service online the price isnât presented which is misleading. I asked for a SILK PRESS, and TRIM. I wasnât aware of the HYDRATION TREATMENT & CUT being done as an extra expense until the end, and didnât ask for either service. I communicated with the hairstylist that I wanted a trim which I thought was understood. When it was time to check out my total was $190. I asked how much was a silk press alone and she said $120 and explained the extra expenses added to my service. On top of that I didnât leave the hair salon until 4pm, so a total of 6 hours, which inconvenienced me for another appointment I had scheduled that day. Although she claims she took off the detangling service, $190 for misleading service, starting late, and then some is TRUTHFULLY ridiculous. The only good thing that came out of it was how good my hair looked, but for all of everything I mentioned it wasnât worth it.
2/21/25 in response to the owner: I DID NOT book a hydration treatment and there is a difference between a CUT & a TRIM. You didn't address the fact that the prices weren't listed on the website or the unprofessionalism of your stylist. For you to mention the word MASTER stylist it wasn't nothing master about my experience. I should've been compensated for the tardiness also. Thankfully I have been loyal to a stylist since then who detangles my natural hair that had braids prior FREE OF CHARGE, is licensed, and prioritizes her clients GENUINELY. Instead of trying to explain yourself rudely & lie on previous clients in these reviews as the OWNER, take some...
Read moreI usually do not leave reviews for anything unless the service was either exceptionally good or exceptionally bad.
WARNING........ Do not go to this establishment the are way overpriced and do not inform you in advance, if you do go do not let Vicki do your hair if you value your appearance get another stylist.
My service at Nubiance Salon & Spa was exceptionally bad. First I went on their website and requested an appointment for new clients according to the instructions on the website; but according to the guy that answers their phone they never got it so it was good I called to confirm my appointment since no one ever called me to confirm. Then my hair stylists Vicki was late. I didn't make a fuss over this but noted in my mind that this is not a good start.
After consulting with Vicki over my hair color and hairstyle which I showed her a picture for both, she had me excited that she could get the job done, little did I know her skills were not up for the task.
I have natural hair and all I wanted was a 3-tone dye job as I mentioned before I showed her the picture of what wanted. I also wanted my hair tapered on the sides and back and a little left in the back to cover a surgery scar.
The color turned out okay not great, basically it looks like a DIY dye job. The hair cut is horrible she does not know what tapered is, the picture I showed her had a nice fade and the hairstyle seamlessly flowed, my hair cut on the other hand is blunt and messy not even lined up, it's just horrible. As a female I do not enjoy having a masculine cut, it's just really bad to the point I am really hurt.
Vicki does not know how to style natural hair I was so frustrated with her but I remained polite, I had been there for 5hrs and she didn't have the proper products to deal with my natural hair and I wished she told me in advance she was not skilled at styling natural hair. My curl pattern in the top of my head is completely gone and not curling like it was before she touched my head.
When other customers left her establishment everybody got a compliment, when I was leaving it was eerily quiet and I believe she knew she did a horrible job because she quickly rung me up and went to the back for somebody else to cash me out. SHE COMPLETELY RUINED MY BIRTHDAY WITH HER AWFUL SERVICE.
Her other stylists did great jobs on other customers' hair but I think she should stick to doing the elderly's hair because that seems to be her skill set. On top of that I had to pay her $165 dollars to totally destroy my hair on my birthday. I will never step foot in this overpriced establishment again, they...
