Attended a concert here in the evening in July - Andrew Bird / Iron & Wine. Will never come back, and I would warn people away.
First - the building, while it does have that cool "abandoned industrial factory" vibe - it's completely non-climate controlled. There were a total of two fans in the back of the room - a room which had maybe 200-300 people in it - so it was sweltering. It was literally a sauna in there. Even the performers commented on how insanely hot it was. This was supposed to be a date night for me and my wife, but we were both soaked with sweat in minutes.
Second - it's impossible for anyone to enjoy the performance. The room is reserved seats in the front half, and then standing-room-only with a bar in the back half. The reserved chairs are so small that even rail-thin people were having to sit slightly askew to not be pushing against their neighbors. But far, far worse - the back half of the room, where it's standing-room only with the bar - was SO LOUD with non-stop talking. People in the reserved seats literally were yelling for people to shut up because it was so loud you couldn't hear.
I spent so much money to hear a couple of bands I was really excited to see - but instead I just paid to be squished, sweaty and unable to enjoy anything.
Worst. Concert...
Read moreMy daughter, sister, nephew, and I went to the Balloon Museum this afternoon. 1st, they are very strict about the time tickets, which is fine and the tickets were 50% off which was awesome! I understand they want to be able to create that space in between the people going in, but it was cold as hell today they could have at least had heaters outside for those that had to wait. My BIGGEST GRIPE was for the VR headset exhibit they had NO type of sanitizer to wipe down the VR headsets. I literally had to go to one of the employees young lady with a white sweater turtle neck who was the ONLY person that had a sanitizer bottle. I had to get her attention that I needed sanitizer to wipe the VR headset and she acted like she didn't want to give me any!!! Who wants to put on headsets on their eyes and ears and you don't have ANY sanitizer on hand! After all those other people before you were using the same VR headsets! i know this is your opening weekend, but you should know to have sanitizer on hand to wipe the VR headsets down after each use. I am glad we were able to wipe ours down for the other folks that weren't so fortunate I hope you don't wake up with the pink eye or some sort of rash on your face.
PLEASE HAVE SANITIZER ON HAND FOR THAT PARTICULAR VR...
Read moreUPDATE (1yr after my initial review): Still no bathrooms and now no Fishmonger either (apparently an event space only and the restaurant is permanently closed)! This is still just a big grift operation with rotating scam events meant to force people to pay for overpriced parking.
This whole place is like a permanent installation of the Fyre Festival. One big grift with rotating, tourist-trappy exhibits where you pay $100+ to hang out in a massive parking lot and eat (mostly) bad food. Oh and you’ll probably spend the last 30-40min driving there stuck in a few blocks of gridlock traffic. Did I mention parking alone is $20 and there are no bathrooms (just big porta potty trailers)? Fishmonger is solid but not justifiable for the price…but still the only saving grace here. And for some reason, Pullman put up a white, temporary party tent next to Fishmonger’s beautifully renovated building. The tent has been up so long it’s starting to turn various shades of brown and yellow. There is a big difference between what the Pullman Yards team promises and what they deliver. Sweetwater 420fest is going to be a disaster…this property is not equipped to handle the lineup they’re advertising....
