This park could be better if the city of Atlanta actually sent someone to clean it. The park is in a historic area so it deserves care but even the field for the baseball area is left to the imagination. The basketball court is outdated also. The water fountains do not work and there are probably one or two of them. You can still tell the place used to be segregated by the way the park looks if you know the history of the park this is to say that nothing has really changed except that they paved over the stairs that was once there or something that required a rail yet left the rail....there is a tennis court which seems to be the best part of the park but no one seems to play there. Around the park is abandoned buildings and an area for Muslims which is okay but the abandoned buildings make the park look worse in a sordid way. The park is okay and safe not to say the least however the city has a gem but they refuse to shine it.
Update: Since this review the city of Atlanta has in fact rehabbed this park. The abandoned buildings are being restored and the neighborhood is being diversified. The park has new equipment for the kids. The baseball field is great and the tennis court is occupied alot. I love the new things ....now please do...
ย ย ย Read moreI have lived in this area and have come to appriciate it immensely. A growing Muslim community surrounds this area and makes a safe and friendly environment.
The only park in Atlanta with a covered basketball court, tennis courts and baseball diamond. Great for kids! Nice shade, great place for exercise, relaxation or a dog walk(just pick "it" up).
This area changed my life. From allowing me to work on and in movies and entertainment to changing my religious philosophy.

The murals of Black Muslim leaders are beautiful and a reminder of the historical context of the park itself. My only wish is that it was appropriately called...
