Portrait Coffee is an absolute gem and well worth the 30-minute drive I make at least once a week. The baristas are so friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to offer suggestions—whether it’s about retail items, food, or drinks. I also appreciate how excited they are when I ask for "for-here" serveware; it’s a small but meaningful detail that you don’t see at most coffee shops.

The shop itself is beautifully designed with a flow that just makes sense. As someone who works in commercial design, I often notice when retail space don’t prioritize customer experience, but Portrait gets it right. The seating options are varied and comfortable, ranging from soft seating to high backs and banquettes, making it a great spot to linger.

And the coffee? Incredible. My go-to is a cortado, which lets me really taste the bean and decide if I want to explore a specialty drink. Every drink I’ve had here has been a hit. Today, I tried the Butler, and it absolutely blew me away.

But the magic doesn’t stop there—the pastries are AH-MAZING! Colette, a local bakery, provides them, and you cannot go wrong with their specialty danish or the cinny bun. Both are worth the trip alone.

Lastly, do yourself a favor and buy some merch! If you’re hesitant, start with a candle. Their candles burn clean, have an awesome throw, and leave my home smelling heavenly.

Okay, enough. I promise I don’t work for or have any affiliation with Portrait Coffee, but they invited me to leave a review, and I had to do them justice. This place is more than just a coffee shop—it’s an experience....

I've been wanting to hit up Portrait for a while, & finally got down for my first visit - it did not disappoint. Aaron & the Team know how to craft coffee. I had a black coffee (Rwanda anaerobic natural) + the Aunt Viv (cardamom spiced latte) & my son got a black cold brew - all the drinks showed the care that Portrait puts into their coffee.

The barista who took care of us, Atlas, helped me picked out my drink & even walked out to find me when I was wondering around checking out the shop (I can get a little distracted).

I love the art on display, & folks seem to gravitate here, as there were a number different groups of friends hanging & grabbing coffee. I'm in coffee for a living, & it's so good to spend time in other shops that care about coffee & their Community. Do yourself a favor & visit Portrait. If you can't make it by anytime soon, or some other coffee online. I'm drinking some at home right now, & it's the same coffee I had their in the shop....

Portrait Coffee Shop in the West End of Atlanta is a hidden gem. The location exudes a welcoming and artistic atmosphere that sets it apart from the typical coffee shop. The cozy seating and outdoor patio create an ideal environment for sipping your coffee and getting some work done or simply enjoying a book.

Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever paid $6.50 for a drink and been so dissatisfied. I ordered the Ginger Drop Tea Au Lait. It tasted like watered down milk. Maybe I made the mistake of ordering on ice instead of hot. However, the barista should’ve known to steep the tea stronger since it was going to get watered down by the ice. Total disappointment. They have a few pastries = a muffin, a biscuit of some sort, a croissant, a cookie, etc. The place is really cute. There were several people there working solo at tables and sitting in duos chatting on the patio. They offer free Wi-Fi. I love the location. It’s next To Tessiili’s. I’ll give it another shot. Nice place to pop in, grab a tea/coffee, got done work done or meet up with a friend. Not too far from the AUC.

This Black-owned coffee shop in West End is a hidden gem—both aesthetically pleasing and a wonderful surprise. I never imagined seeing a coffee shop in this area, especially knowing what this area looked like while growing up down the street. The coffee and service were excellent, and it’s the perfect spot for working remotely with fast Wi-Fi and a great atmosphere. Get there early for a table. The artwork throughout the shop captures the essence of Atlanta’s evolving scene while staying true to its roots. This place has quickly become one of my favorite coffee spots in the city.
