Bader Field was the world's first "airport". This is the place were the word was coined and has been used ever since. It is a shame to see such a storied place shuttered with it's runways "X'd" out, but that is "progress" I imagine.
Over the years I flew out of here a number of times, usually on the now defunct Alleghany Airlines. Atlantic City, in it's ever lack of foresight, closed this plot of land hoping to lure another casino right before the crash saw four close and one never even start to dig.
Now it sits as an empty field with crumbling runways, used occasionally for festivals and outdoor concerts....
Read moreWent to a South Jersey scca autocross event early summer 2018 and it's a pretty cool runway with a great view of the city skyline. The tarmac is a little weird in its current state because it's a slowly decaying old runway but it makes for an awesome autocross stage nonetheless.
