Sojourn Salon — Attraction in Aurora Township

My go to hair salon was in Chicago. We moved to North Aurora less than a year ago and after so many months of searching, I finally came across Sojourn. I initially communicated solely thru Yelp and the owner (Philip) was amazingly responsive which I truly appreciated. After a week or two of communicating with them, I finally was able to come in for a cut and another day for color. Devin cut my hair and Monica did color. Both ladies were so professional and informative and I just loved the experience overall. I am still going thru the process from brunette to ash blonde and Monica was so helpful and explained the whole process before everything got started. She explained that it will likely take several sessions to do this and kept making sure I'm okay with it. I am currently pregnant and she took full consideration of this by taking a much gentler approach. Although I believe that she would have been the same way with any client regardless. I appreciate the care that is being put towards my hair during this process. I'm coming back in 4-weeks, as Monica recommended, to get that ash blonde I'm going for.

Overall, I enjoyed everything about the salon, all the services (neck massage and head/massage was may super favorite) and not to forget their little nook completely equipped with studio lighting for the perfect, well-lit, shot of your before and after. Love love love this gorgeous salon! I’ve been coming to Sojourn Salon for almost two years now. When I first walked in my hair was really long (Past the mid of my back). I’ve been wanting to get my hair cut really short, more of a pixie cut, but I wasn’t comfortable going to just anyone. One of my girlfriends had cut her hair short and I loved it! I asked her where she go it done and she told me Kelly at Sojourn Salon. Kelly killed it! I love my hair short. She never hesitates when I say I want to do something funky and different. We work really well together and she makes me feel comfortable and confident. I have had so many compliments on my hair since I’ve been seeing Kelly. She rocks!

The salon as a whole is beautiful. It’s always clean and inviting. The receptionist are super friendly. There is a ton of space, so you don’t feel like the other guests and stylists are on top of each other. I used to hate, at other salons, when your conversations with you stylist would be interrupted by the station next to you. This never happens at Sojourn Salon. It’s very professional and up to date. Also, the products they use are unique and original.

I’ve been putting off doing my hair for months due to Covid. I’m also admittedly not great about scheduling hair appointments in the first place, but I’ve been even more hesitant to schedule an appointment now. I felt so comfortable at the salon. I felt like Emily and Brandon really took the time with me to make sure they knew exactly what I wanted. They were also great at communicating with one another, to make sure everybody was on the same page. Brandon was even nice enough to take the time to explain the difference between textured and layered to me, which I’ve never had a hairstylist do before only to discover that what I really wanted was textured hair and not layered hair. Emily was so great, she took a ton of time explaining all the different ways they were able to color my hair and the benefits of each. And I also appreciated the overall precautions taken by the salon to make everyone feel safe during this pandemic. They are still currently not using any blow dryers, which was totally fine with me and I thought a great way to make everything extra safe.
