edit december/20/2023: they listened to my review and fixed the waterfountains, I also haven't seen the ramps blocked. The bathrooms still aren't perfectly maintained, but I'm no longer finding clogged or dirty toilets every week. They don't have modern wheelchair accessible sidewalks yet, but that is a much larger project. A lot of the doors are still very heavy, but most of the time the areas I go I am not having an emergency. Heavy doors are sad in a hospital, and unforgivable in emergency areas. Their emergency areas seem accessible, thankfully I haven't had to try their emergency section yet. original review it's usually clean and the doctors are nice, the restrooms need to be looked after more and the waterfountains barely work. the campus is inaccessible. There are heavy doors that are hard to open, the ramps are few and far between, and trucks like amazon and blood banks feel its totally okay to block one of the only ramps and PARK there leaving an unattended vehicle. This is within 50ft of the parking lot and valet, no less, they insist on blocking the ramp instead. Someone kind helped me over the curb, but otherwise I would have missed my appointment. There is no clear number to call for help at the hospital, and I had to sit between two large trucks in a nominally pedestrian area until someome came by. I am fairly sure leaving unattended trucks there is illegal, but no clear number to call to get them moved or towed or given a talking to. This would be a non issue if the hospital had more ramps. They have several crossways with no ramps. I have attached a picture, This truck has been blocking the ramp for at least an hour and a half, that is only the time I have been here. This blood bank believes their convenience is more important than accessibility. The building behind the truck in the picture is the valet station, and less than 20ft behind the truck is the parking lot. The nearest ramp other than the blocked one is 100ft away. I am disabled and cannot walk 5ft without wheeled assistence. Jumping curbs injures me on days like these, I've tried it I promise. It would be ironic if a hospital was inaccessible and trying to get inside for a routine appointment resulted in injury, right? Normally my doctor gets the door and is kind enough to get me water, but that is not the doctors job. the inaccessible facilities prevent the doctor from being able to do their job to the best of their ability.

Was admitted around 2-3pm on 5/29 for respiratory distress issues. Transport to hospital through ambulance was incredible, very kind people helping me. After being put into a room where they took vitals and proceeded to further treat me deemed me stable after I told them I was continuing to have chest pains and could not draw a breath which you could hear from the tightness in my voice. One particular staff member was rough inserting an IV and when withdrawing for blood proceeding to not tell me why they were taking blood. I had to ask repeatedly for my test results and was not told if they were still in progress but seeing as I came in that early and it was encroaching on 9-10pm I find it hard to believe those couldn’t have been communicated earlier. At one point before being brought up to a nicer room there was a duration of time where no one came to check on me even though I was hyperventilating and pressed the pain button. I also had asked staff for a change of pants/pad as I’m on my period and that was never offered even after asking several people that were attending to me. Around 11pm I was brought upstairs to a room where I was famished and exhausted but met with better care by a nurse named Dina. Not once had I been told if there was any dietary restrictions on what I could eat or if I even could from 2-10:30pm. I was offered water once. Throughout the night the stay was exceptional and the Drs even better. In the morning I was faced with a mirage of attitudes none of them ranging to anything that could mirror a bedside manner. Blood was withdrawn once again and having been given blood thinners, I was bleeding heavily from the blood site. After most of the bleeding calmed down I had asked if it could be changed or if I could remove it, no one responded to me so I took it off and as you can see from the photos it was also left uncleaned. Once morning hit I was not told if I could order breakfast and was once again left to wonder about the next time I was going to be updated about my status. Overall I was not very happy with treatment and felt like at times I would have been better off at home. I am incredibly thankful for the treatment I did receive as I received a lot of it initially, but overall it felt impersonal and neglectful at times.

The day I moved from the ER to the 4th floor was very disorganized. I arrived to the 4th floor at 6 pm, my transporter hooked me up on oxygen and left. I was not fully checked in to the floor for 3 hours. I was incredibly thirsty and used the call nurse button numerous times with no answer. When the nurse finally came in she said she would get me water - during this time I was still not hooked up to any machines to watch my breathing, pulse or had vital signs taken. After an hour Nurse never returned with water so I got up to go ask for water - the second I was in the hall I saw the nurse and asked for water again, she yelled at me for leaving my room and that she would get it. At 930 a patient care tech finally came in and got me all hooked up to the machines, changed into a hospital gown, and took my vital signs. She casually said she had no idea I was even there. Through out the night the teles kept coming undone and the tech would come in and pull my gown off my upper half exposing me with the door open to the hall to fix them she did this two or three times. I only saw my nurse once the whole night for her to administer medication. While in my room she moved my trash can next got the bed without my knowledge that I later fell over bruising my left leg very badly. Then in the morning she came in to do my admittance questionnaire - I asked for her to fix my IV line as it was painful, bleeding and super oozy and she said the be next shift can do it because she was done. The next shift came in and the were much bettter, Lyndsey was very attentive and helpful. That first night was horrible and patient care was abysmal at best.

Childbirth is such a monumental moment in life, and I feel so lucky that Josephine was my nurse during my labor. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to have a supportive nurse by your side. Josephine was just incredible. From the very start, she made sure to ask about my birth plan and how I wanted to manage pain, which really put me at ease.

Throughout the entire labor, she kept me informed, explaining everything that was happening and how my baby was doing on the monitor. As someone who was a bit nervous about the process, knowing that my little one was doing well was such a relief. Josephine’s attentiveness made me feel relaxed and cared for.

What stood out the most was her kindness. She genuinely listened to me, making me feel valued at a time when things can get overwhelming. I wholeheartedly recommend requesting Josephine as your nurse if you’re expecting and will be delivering at HCA Aurora. She really made my experience more positive and memorable, I am so grateful for her support!

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Josephine as my nurse during labor. From the very beginning, she made sure my husband and I were comfortable and stress-free. She regularly checked in to ask if we needed anything, like water or extra blankets, which made a world of difference.

One of my biggest worries going into labor was the IV placement, as I've found it to be quite painful in the past. But Josephine made it completely pain-free! Honestly, that alone made me feel so much more relaxed. My entire labor went smoothly, and I felt like I was in really capable hands.

What stood out the most was how genuinely Josephine cared about my experience. It’s clear she truly cares, and that’s something hard to find. If you’re looking for a nurse who will take great care of you, your baby, and your family during labor and delivery I highly recommend requesting Josephine. She listens, understands, and focuses on making your birth experience as stress-free as possible. Having a nurse like her by your side can make all the difference.

I can't say enough good things about the care we received from her. When my husband and I needed support, she was there every step of the way, providing not just what we needed, but so much more. Her kindness and dedication truly made a difference in our experience. We felt heard, valued, and cared for in ways that went beyond the basics. It’s clear that she loves what she does, and that passion shines through in her work. We are forever grateful for her compassion and commitment. This world really could use more nurses like her! Best nurse I have ever had and this was my fourth birth. She really needs to be recognized. Thank you...
