I have been coming to La Quintas for years because of their dog friendly environment. However, I received the worst customer service ever when I tried to check-in at 1500 S. Abilene St. Auoroa, CO. I walked in with my dog on a tight leash, less that 2 ft. She was not whining, barking, or pulling. But, the Front Desk Receptionist lady felt like that warranted leaving her post into the Private employee room and closing the door on me. I was so confused, even someone behind me, asked, "Isn't she supposed to check you in?". The front desk lady slowly opened the door, and asked if me and my dog could leave. I told her no, I need to check-in. She continued to argue with me asking my dog to leave. I told her it is a pet-friendly hotel and we need to check in. I can't leave my dog in the car, it is too hot. (Plus, why should that matter if the place is supposed to be dog-friendly?). She said she is afraid of dogs and to keep my dog away from her. The dog never came close to her. There was 10 feet separating us. She then walked behind the counter to do her job and check me in. She asked again to keep my dog at the farthest desk away from her while she worked on the computer at the other desk. Of course, I had to move to the desk nearest her to give her my credit card and vehicle information. I told her maybe she shouldn't work here if she is afraid of dogs, because now I feel unwelcomed. She checked-me in, but I felt so terrible. I didn't raise my voice once or have my dog act in any dangerous way. I understand people are afraid of dogs, but customer service comes first... and my friendly dog and I should be greeted with the same friendliness we give! I reported this to their manager, Rodger Hovis. He did not seem to care. He said, "I don't know what you want me to do." He said, he knew she was afraid of dogs and he will ask to hear her side of the story. He asked me if my dog came towards her, I said no. I brought my dog with me to speak with the manager to show how well-behaved she was. He said, "well if she was acting this way then, then she seems fine." I felt like the issue was put on me and there will be no further action from management. Anyway... don't ever come here if you're looking for a friendly welcoming. Of course, that doesn't speak for all of their staff! When I walked up to ask for the manager and a different front desk lady was there. She asked to pet my dog and said that's why she loves working there... La quinta, hire more people like her! People who are afraid of dogs and close their door on people should work at the many other hotels that...

They apparently changed their pet policy since last year, animals pretty much are no longer allowed anywhere but your room, which is really weird considering how pet-friendly the rest of colorado is. Also, same problem we had last year, they apparently double booked our room after my friend placed her reservation months in advance, so they had to find us a new one. We won't be coming back. EDIT: it gets worse. One of our dogs may have broken her leg by falling off the bed and racking her elbow on the opposite bed frame . We don't have the x-rays back yet. Apparently our reservation was split in to two separate stays so we had our keycards deactivated while we were out, and our dogs were still in our room ( the front desk told us our room was empty. I beg to differ). We had to check back in in order to let them out to walk them! Not to mention all our luggage was still in there. While they weren't precisely rude, there is a reasonable level of adhering to policy which the front desk staff crossed. La Quinta will be my last choice for a hotel stay from now on. On the bright side, at least there were no bed bugs...this time. EDIT 2: ...although my friend intends to stick with the chain, i am in favor of a boycott. At the very least, we will never visit this location again. We were locked out of our room with our dogs still inside TWICE via the staff deactivating our keycards while we were out because of a misunderstanding about the length of our stay. No attempt was made to contact us the second time. Mind, one of these dogs is in the process of being made an emotional support animal for said friend, so blocking my friend's access may have violated the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). I didn't bother to mention this in the first iteration of this review because i didn't expect things to get anywhere near as bad as they did. Safety concerns, potentially even discrimination against those with disabilities! Good luck fixing what's broken at this location. Although i would at least suggest padding for the bed frame/ box springs to make them less likely to cause injury. As for the staff...I have slowly come to the conclusion that the only reason the front desk staff we dealt with couldn't be construed as "rude" was because they were so indifferent that they couldn't be bothered enough to be rude to us. They just didn't seem to care about any of the concerns we raised. The most we got from the manager was...

Avoid this business like Ebola!!!!! After stayin 19, yes 19 nights in a row, we finally left with the worst review I have ever given. Most of the days were uneventful, but after being checked out for days and not receiving my rewards points I became suspicious. Turns out the front desk doesn't know how to check people out properly. So not only did I not get my points when I needed them, I was spontaneously charged for many days at once, many days after checkout. Normally with la Quinta (and I stay at La Quintas quite a bit) I am charged within 2 days. This was 6-8 days later. Of course the GM (Natalie) blames it on my bank, then why has every other (literally every other) stay get charged within 48 hrs? Oh that's right because you forgot to check us out! For days!!! We would leave on a Wednesday and get checked out when? Next time when came to check in of course! Absurd!!! This eventually caused an overdraft of my account, because I am a lowly blue collar guy struggling to make ends meet and have a place to stay that's not my car.

Housekeeping is a joke, forget something in the room? They'll tell you they saw your personal item, but cannot locate it now. Most likely they either threw it away or took it home for their own use. Please don't expect to be able to use WiFi either, just keep wishing.

Then on top of it the rent a cop security guy is on a power trip to end all power trips. Smoke outside your room? In front of the room door? Expect to get charged a $250 "damage" charge, I certainly did. Wow, this is the most classless, degrading and unfriendly experience I have ever had in a motel.

On top of it all, after we had some words with Natalie (GM) she decided to call all the other La Quintas in the area and have us "blacklisted". Your not the only game in town honey, I will let everyone know how rude and inhuman you are. I have filed a dispute with my bank, a complaint with the BBB (if only to let of some of my steam!) and am pursuing any and all avenues to let other travelers know this place is the most amateur motel in the hospitality industry. Some of the lower echelon staff is friendly and helpful, but upper management is a joke and...

Long review please click to see all. This is a lower end hotel. Very basic. I had to request a fridge and microwave. Maintenance brought me a mini fridge and a microwave oven. Local traffic can be loud. Tight parking. I do not recommend a trailer. Lots of food choices and grocery stores nearby. Starbucks is next door. Next morning: breakfast was okay, but my shower started luke warm than 2 min later it was cold. The receptionists act like they have better things to do than help you. The TV volume is barely audible which is fine late at night but in the busy part of the day with traffic it can be hard to hear. The fridge at max cold setting wasn't enough. I should of just left my food outside. 20$ of food ruined. Also all the food I had for the week. Came home after work around 6 the bed looked to be clean but could see defined numbers in the sheets. The beds have protective pads. I found this out last night when I laid down for bed. It was like laying on sticks. Well I pulled back the comforter to see lots of small hairs on the sheet. Probably myn. Just wish I looked before I climbed in last night. Also my food that went bad is still in my overflowing trashcan. Came home and the towel I uses to clean up a mess was just picked up off the floor and placed back. Sheets still have not been clean. But the front office for breakfast yesterday was great. The reason for no warm water is a bad water heater. They wont replaced until the hotel chages management or company. Got home and the towels that I used for a mess on Monday keep getting put back on the towel rack. The sheets where finally clean. Shower still has a partial hand print on the wall from last customer. Breakfast was good and the front desk was nice.

THIS PLACE DOES NOT RECYCLE, which is a shame. But for the price, my 10-night stay was alright. Wifi was down for three days. This place claims to be non-smoking, but the first two rooms we were given were definitely smoked in. However, the staff was accomodating and moved us until we were in a room that was actually clean. The toilet paper was thin, rough (and I mean abrasive), and smelly -- if you stay here for a while, I recommend getting your own toilet paper. There were specks of red on their rolls that looked suspiciously like blood, too. The breakfast buffet was standard: waffle maker, baked goods, Kellog cereal dispensers, Yoplait Light, eggs, sausage. The bacon was absolute garbage; wafer-thin and tasteless. At least the sausage tasted like something. I had a -breathtaking- view of the 24 Hour Fitness center, with a morning symphony of constuction for the last few days of my stay. Pictured is also the beaten wood beneath the refridgerator. I was not bothered by neighbors, though! The walls here are good! I would still return to this establishment, despite the toilet paper.

This hotel looked great in the photos online but sadly it hasn't been maintained to that condition. I had a lamp in my room that wasn't working, the bath towels were a nice shade of yellow, and there was an interesting odor coming from the vent in the bathroom. Maybe a combination of food smell and smoke? I couldn't stand at the vanity and get ready because the odor was gag worthy. The public hallways smelled of weed. The elevator floor tiles are all cracked up and the decor mirror on our floor near the elevator was broken. The breakfast was okay, but there was no staff there to replenish. Breakfast started at 6am, I was there at 6:30 and the orange juice was empty. Also, there was a uhaul in the parking lot with a shattered window. We were terrified all night that our car would be broken into next. Thank goodness we only stayed one night.
