Sheabeens is kind of like a Cheers bar. Its an upscale dive, that's the best way I can describe it. Their drinks are reasonably priced and they are not watered down. As for the staff, they have some friendly staff and some not so friendly staff. They have a nice heated patio so if you smoke you can go out to the back during the winter, smoke and still be comforted. Also if you don't smoke like me, you can go out back and play this little ring toss game that is so much fun, and it passes the time while you wait for your friends to finish. They have a pool table and dart boards, so if you don't feel like waiting for pool, you can always grab the darts and throw a few. They have a lot of live entertainment there in the evenings. Live bands, (most of which I don't care for) karaoke and they also have a juke box, which I love to use. The cast of characters they have at the bar varies from time to time. Sometimes they have a lot of old people and sometimes they have a mix of older and younger. It just depends on the day, if there is a live show, etc... The bar has been open since I've been elementary school in the 90's so they have to be doing something right. I say go check it out you may find a...
Read moreI saw this place online and thought I'd try it out. I thought you can't go wrong with an Irish bar!
Unfortunately, or maybe I should say to my good fortune, I used the bathroom before ordering a drink. The bathroom had the most disgusting smell of urine I've ever encountered in a public bathroom. It must have been this way for years. There's no way a single night could have left the place this bad. Just to be clear, I am not that picky. I know how bars can be, but this was way over the top.
All the male employees and patrons have obviously thought this was normal, and were not disgusted. I am not so low down. I left immediately and did not order a drink. Thank God I used the bathroom before making the mistake of ordering a drink.
Also, the main bar area smells like stale cigarette smoke, as if smoking is still allowed here, although it's possible the smell dates back to 2004, before Colorado outlawed...
Read moreI've been here twice. The first time, I had just moved to Aurora and was checking out the nightlife. I had a couple of drinks and was impressed by the house band.
The second time, I took my daughter and a friend to see what their open mic was all about. This time, I was not so impressed with the house band (the same). They seemed to play forever before they considered bringing up anyone who had signed up to play. I thought this was more than a bit self-indulgent.
We ordered food, and it also took forever to get to the table. IMO, my cheesesteak was extremely average. I only mention this because the menu claimed to offer "the best cheesesteak in Aurora". Um, not so much.
I gave them three stars because the Guinness Stout that I ordered was tasty, and the impression on the foam...
