CertaPro Painters of Austin, TX — Attraction in Austin

When we decided to use CertaPro Painters for our brand new home they promised us two things: great communication regarding the project and cleanliness. They could not have undelivered more if they tried. We had our home painted the week of May 10th and there are still spots that need to be touched up but we will be doing those ourselves because we are sick of dealing with them. However we would love an explanation on why things went so wrong. My partner and I went out of town for the week of the painting to give them better access to our brand new home. We thought that getting out of their way would make the project go smoother. They promised a progress report everyday but we found ourselves in a position where we were the ones calling everyday to find out how things were going. On the last day we were told that the painting was finished by two different people and that we could come back home to take a look at our freshly painted house. We drove the 3 hours from Houston back to Austin, excited to see our new walls and kitchen cabinet colors. Even though we had been told that the project was completely finished it was far from it. We came home to an active worksite, tarps on our furniture, paint cans, ladders, and trash all over our home, our kitchen completely dismantled. We called our point of contact Jordan in the office and within an hour or so someone came to our home to “clean up”. After one guy spent an hour or so removing tape and plastic sheets from our walls and picking up the mess they had made, my partner and I spent the rest of the night and next day cleaning. There was fast food trash left in our kitchen and in our yard, I cleaned pee off of our toilet seats, we vacuumed and dusted our floors only to find that they had splattered paint on our couch,stairs, some artwork, and an entire rack of shoes. They gave us a few hundred dollars off the original $8000 quote for the shoes and for dropping the ball on the entire project, but never asked for the value of the shoes to begin with and barely offered an apology for ruining so many personal items in our home. More touch ups needed to be done after all of this so they once again sent people out to our home to fix the initial mistakes that had occurred. They used the wrong paint on the touch ups and so half of our cabinets didn’t match the initial gloss. They eventually fixed that problem as well but still left some spots on our kitchen cabinets that don’t match and at this point we have given up on trying to get them to fix it. We were recommended CertaPro through some friends after we recently purchased a new home and wanted to paint the interior before we moved in.

Before the job started, we decided to hold off on painting our downstairs right away because we planned some renovations to start after move-in, so we worked with CertaPro to split the estimate.

We met the PM at the house on the day the job was set to start and he was not aware they were only doing the upstairs. The PM told us they had also underestimated a portion of the work we planned for downstairs and was unaware of some other things promised in the estimate. Not a big deal, but after that, we kept running into issue after issue.

Once the upstairs was done, we noticed that most of the baseboards, trim and doors had not been finished. During the walk-through, the PM told us that his guys said the paint was clumping so they had to thin it out a lot. He suspected it would need another coat, but assumed they could do that when they came back for the downstairs. This was never communicated to us and we were a week out from our move-in date. Since we’d be living upstairs for the renovation, we asked that they finish the first job before then. The PM complained about needing to rehire the guys because he had already paid them, but said he would do it. No one came until 5pm the day before our move-in. Luckily we happened to stop by to drop some things off because the crew hadn’t been given any direction about how to get in or what they had to do. They ended up staying pretty late to finish the job, which we appreciated, but there was paint on our windows in the bathroom and spots that they missed.

All during this, we were in contact with CertaPro and the PM who assured us the job would be done and on time. After the experience we canceled the remainder of the contract and found another company to do the work downstairs for us. We would not...

Fantastic Job! We had our exterior stucco (cracks) repaired & home painted. In addition to our paint chipped metal railings and wood Ipe ceilings oiled. Matt, the project supervisor came to our house to survey the job. He explained in DETAIL what needed to be done given the fact the original painters did not use the correct paint for the respective material. Matt spent a signifiant amount of time educating us on paints and proper application. He described the process of power washing, stucco repair, and then recommended a high quality paint for our project. CertaPro Painters is very professional. They sent a contract, we approved color selections, and were given a scheduled date.

The office communicated in a follow up letter which entailed steps to prepare for our exterior paint job. Excellent communication. Having painted many interior rooms over the years and homes, these painters were by far the best quality painters I have experienced. The workers were prompt, polite, and they used ear buds so we never had to listen to exterior music. The painters completed the job sooner than anticipated. The walk through showed no drips, paint bleeding or damage to our property…amazingly respectful. I was impressed with the attention to detail around the window casings…no overpaint. You could see they took pride in their work, which is hard to find these days. They even power washed our deck, leaving the property in better condition than how they found it!
