I understand that this facility is operated by UT for students and employees (I am one of them), but as publicly owned recreation land I am disappointed that UT aggressively enforces membership. The Craven Lacrosse Athletic Field on the main campus is essentially open to the public, why not here? A simple and fair policy would be to partner with the City of Austin and give precedent to users who reserve the fields for a fee, and to allow unreserved fields to be used for general recreation.
