Not at all what I expected from reviews and advertisement. Because the reviews were so amazing, this was my first stop for food when I arrived in Austin. I was in a hurry to get to my rental home, so I ordered a burger and truffle fries to-go. My fries were barely warm when I made it to my car. Since I didn't have time to go back into Hopdoddy, I called the manager from the car. She left a credit for me at the counter to be used the next time I came to that area. Once I got to my rental home on the west side of Austin, I began eating my warmed-over meal. I ate less than half of it and my stomach began to ache, so I threw over $20 of my Hopdoddy meal into the garbage.
I hadn't made it back to that side of Austin for six days so I called the manager Mike about this situation. At this point, in-store credit was insufficient for me because the food gave me a stomach ache. After conferring with Josh, Mike informed me that they could not refund my money because I paid in cash. This was not acceptable. I paid in cash; they should refund in cash. Mike was mostly respectful in refusing to refund me with the exception of trying to inform me that the food didn't make me sick. I am an educated person who has raised three children; I do know when food doesn't agree with me. So Hopdoddy was a fail for me in two ways: the food was not good to the point that it made me feel ill and the management was not accommodating about...
Read moreI’m hoping this was an off night and not what the service is to be expected to be like from now on. We frequent this location if not once a month, every 2 or so months. Usually when we come in it’s been fine, there’s been some random delays in time to get the order but that was about it. Today’s experience as so far worse than our usual experience. The cashier at the front counter was very nice and seemed like he was trying his best, but was very rocky in that position. (Though he shouldn’t assume people don’t want to tip when we accidentally start walking away because we didn’t see it on the screen. I did leave some cash though) We then spent 30 minutes waiting on food, watching people that had been in line order Togo, get their food before us and then sit down at tables. After that 30 minutes I went up to the counter and checked on our order, I got told they were behind and saw that our order was the next one however not once did we get told “sorry.” I go and sit down and somebody comes and just sets our food on the table, saying the name of the sandwiches but not giving them to the person who ordered them and just placed them there, again not even thinking to say “sorry for the long wait, we got really behind.” The positive thing I can say about this visit is that the food was your normal levels. None of the staff that I saw walking around looked like they want to be...
Read moreWell, the service and the atmosphere were nice. The food not so much. I should have listened to my kid when they said the bugers weren't good. But my wife likes this place. So I gave it a chance. I ordered a burger, nothing fancy, just lettuce and tomato. It was around $10. I thought that was a little pricey for just a burger. But , it's a gourmet burger place, I thought to myself. My kid ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and my wife ordered a vegetarian burger and some fancy pricy truffle fries. We got our food in a good amount of time . The place wasn't packed, though. I was expecting this big juciy burger , what I received was a normal sized (seemed like 1/4 pound patty ) burger on some fancy type of bun. I took a bit and was disappointed with the meat. It was dry and tasted like they took it out of the freezer and threw it on the grill , the bun was good, though. The truffle fries which I had before (leftover from the time my wife and kid ate at the place) I thought they were good but over salted. I tried them again, and this time, they were again over salted . I would've given this place another chance, but since my daughter didn't like the burgers here already, I decided that I won't be coming back to...
