Roundup - ATX Trails Perfect for Capturing Fall Foliage and Toddler-Friendly Hikes

This park and Mueller Lake Park next to it are so beautiful, but they are so poorly managed. There is often litter, dead ducks, dead fish. They recently cleaned these lakes and didn’t respect the wildlife at all— they left huge plastic pipes. I found a displaced turtle stuck at the top of a dry rocky area, due to how quickly they drained the lakes. I often see herons with fish lines stuck on their feet because they allow fishing over here, as if they weren’t hurting and killing enough of the wildlife as it is. Mueller also recently chopped down a ton of trees, leaving dozens of birds dead in the grass by the food trucks…. It’s just shameful how they pretend to care but then don’t follow through at all.

A nice place to walk, off of the more beaten path of Mueller Lake Park. This isn't an area for lounging in the grass, as most of these landscaping of intended to preserve native plants and habitat, but the trails are pleasant and varied, with interesting sculpture installations along the way. There are some shady picnic tables along the pond as well, and a few small man-made waterfalls add nice ambience. Could be a little longer, and the last part of the loop is right next to the road, but still quite nice.

The city of Austin requires that all developments provide X amount of green space. The Meuller airport green belt is one continuous strip that is completely planned. Each tree, shrub, and water feature. On the upside their is a nice labeled diversity of fruit and nut trees.

The best feature is the marked 1.5+ mile long crushed gravel and paved trail. The trail if you go from the very end (best buy) is 2.08 miles long. However the last third of a mile is along I35 and so loud you can't hear yourself think.

I like this urban oasis. I love the trail. As the development continues I hope the green...

You can't walk on the trail to see the huge spider statue due to construction being done at this time. There is only one part of this that is kept up and that is butterfly garden. The rest is just dry burnt dead plants that sprinklers don't water for some reason. There's only ONE water fountain throughout this entire thing so if you are walking your dog(s) bring plenty of water or don't stray far from it. There's not a restroom to use at all. There's not a playground only a some grass kids and sidewalk could play in if the space isn't already occupied. They have concrete tables and...
