As much as I liked about my first impression, I was disappointed at the staying at your hotel. Our family booked the hotel based on the reputation and location. The staff was kind and welcomed us with the large space suit. Our family had a pretty busy schedule and the weather looked not so promising, so did not get to use much amenities besides resting in the room. In the early morning, we noticed the room started leaking water due to the heavy rain and it was about 5 hrs until the checked out time. We Reached out to the front desk and raised our concern. The Technician came to our room and examined the reason of the leak but said there was nothing they can do until it stopped raining.
That was the last time I heard anything nice from the hotel.
After the technician left, the front desk called back and said they would be working on getting the leak fixed but without an ETA and nor did they address any concern or safety issue about our staying. As soon we ended the conversation, the front desk called again and warned us that the late check out would no longer be validated and we would be penalized for every hour if checking out later than regular check out time.
We requested late check out early that week due to our schedule and the Origin hotel was very accommodating and agreed that we could have the late check out around 2:00pm. But it suddenly changed at 9:00 am in the morning on the same day we were checking out ?
I understand that hotel business is to keep the room available for all possible staying and late check out agreement can be changed due to the accommodation with new guest staying over the weekend; However, what raised my concern and disappointment is that the Staff did not care about my experience and told me the reasoning for me to have to leave was because they will need to rent out the room as soon it is fixed on the same day.Not be an expert in detecting water leak but I know for sure it take days of work to get that fixed. I felt The Origin Hotel just like to have my business but did not care about us...
Read moreWe came to stay here after losing power in Houston due to Hurricane Beryl. The location is really nice, and you can walk to most places. Upon our arrival, the young lady at the front desk seemed a little unsure about our reservation but still handed us our key. When we went upstairs, we found ourselves in another guest’s room. When we informed her, she explained they were having issues with the internet due to the storm.
We asked if we could be upgraded to a room on a higher floor, but she said it wasn’t possible because we booked a room with two queen beds, which was only available on the 3rd floor. The next day, the manager called to check on our stay. After we explained the incident, she gladly moved us to a room on the 5th floor with “two queen beds” and a balcony.
Everything seemed okay until check-out. On the morning of our check-out, I called to see if late check-out was available and was told it costs $20 to check out at 12:00 and $75 to check out at 3:00. When I tried to check out online (to avoid stopping at the desk), the option to check out at 2:00 was only $20. I put in a request, and it was approved. However, when I got to the lobby and saw my bill, I was charged $75.
I informed the young lady at the front desk about the approved $20 request, and she said it was an old system that should have updated the price. When I asked to speak with the manager, she argued with me about the price difference. Eventually, she honored the $20 price after she took a screenshot of the approved request as proof.
It seems Origin Hotel Austin don’t have proper systems in place, and their employees are not well-trained. Even a simple question about breakfast at the hotel restaurant (which wasn’t great) couldn’t be answered by any of the front desk staff. If you have better options at Mueller I would look into those before...
Read moreI needed a hotel close to the state offices and buildings, so I chose The Origin. I didn't utilize the valet option because several Google reviews mentioned can be a little slow in the mornings. I opted for the garage parking which is a $20 flat rate.
All the staff was great, except for the black chick in the morning; she must have been dyslexic or something because she asked me seven times to spell my surname, and each time I did, she thought I was saying, "SW", but I said "W". Then, the following morning she mentioned that she was going to call me on a mistake that happened when I switched my personal card to the business credit card when paying for the room. I was baffled that she didn't call and waited until I came to the desk. (what if I didn't come that morning?)
The room was simple which I liked the most; a comfy bed, television, mini refrigerator, restroom with hot steaming water coming out of the shower head, and a restaurant on site. I didn't need a hotel with breakfast included since most hotels never have anything that I can eat in the mornings.
Again, did not need a pool since I wouldn't frequent it at all.
I loved that the rooms were mid-century contemporary style. The gym on the second floor had what I needed, despite it being small. It had two treadmills, two elliptical machines, four-cycle bikes, a row machine, ropes, mats, weights, towels to dry sweat, and mirrors.
I ultra loved that the hotel was in the middle of everything; Alamo Drafthouse across the street, ice cream parlors, restaurants, and the Mueller Lake park. I would 1000%...
