I shop here regularly due to being in the neighborhood. Sometimes it’s for wine, sometimes beer, and sometimes liquor. Sometimes I want something simple; sometimes I want something new or a little nicer. Customer service is a real hit or miss, and the last time I was in was a real miss. It’s not that the staff is ever “unfriendly,” it’s more so that there’s a noticeable difference in which customers they direct their attention to and the tone and attitude they display. It’s not uncommon to wait several minutes to check out while all sales staff is occupied with other customers, only to then wait longer when they ring up the customers they just landed a sale with (or be made to feel like an inconvenience). I look young for my age, so I think the treatment I get is based on being perceived as a student. Word to the wise: when a customer asks, “Do you have X,” responding, “We sure don’t” is not the best sales tactic. Following it up by bragging about how great your selection is and then saying, “I mean, I can show you other options if you want” is also not a great move. The times when I have received enthusiastic assistance have usually been awkward and misplaced. Whether y’all like it or not, you’re a neighborhood liquor store, so learn how to better cater to a diverse customer base instead of just your dinner-party class of gentrifiers. It’s also not a good idea to assume the guy trying to buy some Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey can’t be sold on...

Read moreIf you are looking for that unique whiskey, scotch, bourbon, and generally anything spirit related, The Austin Shaker is your spot. Kiki and David have done an amazing job selecting some of the finest offerings available. On top of that they are awesome people to hangout and talk with about all things adult beverage related.
This place is not Specs or Twin Liquors, they care about the products selected for their shelves. I've been fortunate to have found unique and hard to find bourbons thanks to their incredible connections.
They also do a wonderful job catering to those who love crafting a fine tasting cocktail, with barwares to support the endeavour.
Hands down the best liquor...
