I generally love this library. I count on it as a homeschooling mom. The Children's Services Department is awesome but I am very upset with the way they handled my situation and this is a review of that. I am signed up for their "courtesy" notifications that will tell me how many items I have due on the day I receive the notification. My notification told me I had 4 items due so when I logged in to see which ones were due, it said I owed $35 because the day before, 71 of my items had been due but I received no notification. Connor confirmed the notification system hadn't been working and that it was fixed on the day I called. So, my items were one day late, their notifications weren't working, and I called the next day. Barbara tells me because I have access to my account, I should know that sometimes their notifications don't work and they will not waive the one day of fees. I am appalled at the lack of customer service. These items were only one day overdue, eligible for renewal, and I counted on their "courtesy" notifications but it feels more like a trap. But after I visited Brownsburg library I felt there is one thing Avon library could improve is to have the automatic renewal. I read a couple of reviews describing the overdue related issues, and felt the automatic renewal will ease all the pains. But I have to say my personal experience over the overdue was super pleasant. I misplaced a book for a month and thought I returned it already and the info on the app is different from what from the Website which showed I returned it so I was confused. I find that sometimes I get the notifications and sometimes I donât. I brought this to the libraryâs attention and they told me to check my computer settings and my junk mail folder. I checked my junk mail folder and it wasnât there. The problem isnât with my computer settings. Every other person/company that emails me sends it just fine. I have looked back at some reviews and found out that this problem has been going on FOR 6 YEARS! And the library has done nothing to fix it.
