employees are indolent, uncouth, negligent and possess a total lack of initiative. we moved out of our house recently and had 15+ garbage bags full of quality clothing/blankets/etc... I usually try to donate to this organization because it seems more people in need tend to shop here/take advantage of their services. however, upon trying to drop off the donations (at 2pm on a wednesday) I was told they didn't have anyone working in the back by the donation area. I proceed to ask if someone could come with a large bin or something similar to collect the items I wanted to donate, and they told me I could bring them inside in a shopping cart, if I really wanted to do that - reiterating the fact I had a LOT of items and a shopping cart would take me 20+ trips inside.... I was simply ignored by the two employees in the front. so, I told myself, forget these people and the salvation army in general, if they refuse to execute their basic objectives, then they don't need nor deserve ANY donations.
I went to goodwill, right down the road, and they were more than happy to take all the things I had to donate. they expressed gratitude and even unloaded all the items in my car for me! the goodwill employees conduct was a refreshing contrast to those at the salvation army. choosing to leave the salvation army in favor of donating to the goodwill I believe was an act in good conscience.
in precis, if you have things to donate, opt to give to the goodwill and avoid this salvation army. their behavior was inexcusable in their line of work, turning a cold shoulder to roughly several thousand dollars worth of items due to their total unconcern and laziness. maybe if donations stop coming in their demeanor might change... but I...
Read moreI was just there June 22, 2019. I pulled up to the door where everyone unloads their donated items and there was a guy who was moving boxes etc and there were things piled all over the place ( outside the doors ) I asked the employee where I should put my donations and he says anywhere. I told him it looked like there were a lot of items and if they transfer a lot of the items to other Salvation army’s. He said no then said something about trashing them. I asked him if they were going to trash the clothes etc that I brought and he just smiled. Another lady who was donating items asked me if she heard correctly that they were going to trash everything that was being donated sitting out there. I just I don’t think so because I brought almost new clothing and shoes and picture frames etc. then when I asked that same employee if I could have a donation slip ... he said “ for your garbage “? Then I said hey ... I brought very good clothes , coats and shoes etc ... he showed me the slips and I filled it out and left. I hope he was kidding and that the Salvation Army isn’t really going to trash all of those clothes , shoes , picture frames , scarves etc that I brought and I also donated teddy bears in excellent condition. I am never donating anything else to Salvation Army if all they do is trash things that others may need. To top all of this off I donated a brand new poker game and the employee dropped it and all of the pieces went everywhere. I asked him if I could help him pick it up and he said no he will sweep it up and he took a broom and swept it up and threw it in a box that he was throwing everything in as if it were trash and when I left I seen pieces of my game all...
Read moreThe signage on the door stated they were open until 7p. They announced that everyone had to be in line by 440p because they'd be closing at 5p. The line stretched at least 15-20 people deep and was extremely slow moving. Twice, new customers came in and the employee ( older woman with medium length brown/gray hair pulled back on low ponytail and glasses ...didn't catch a name) literally scolded them that they were closing at 5p. Each time this happened, they were completely confused and mentioned the signage on the door. The employee was extremely rude during the whole encounter. Once approaching the cash register for my turn, the girl in front of me was called to be rung up. The same woman said " you still have hangers on your merchandise, you have to take it off and hang them up ( pointing to a rack on the other side of the desk). We will take the next person". Again, her customer service skills were non-existent and she was bossy and rude..no please or thank you or friendliness whatsoever. The girl looked confused and walked near me and said she didn't know, and neither did I....because there was no signage stating that. I hardly ever waste my time writing review posts ( and especially this long).. but that woman...
