Located on Rt. 83 north of I90 in Avon, this Culver's has sister stores in North Ridgeville and Strongsville and is operated by a franchisee whose attention to detail along with a like minded staff who work hard to bring you a superior dining experience with food that is prepared to order from fresh ingredients for dining in a pleasant environment with lots of quiet little spaces where you can hold a conversation.
Their Lake Erie perch (fresh, not frozen) is tasty when available and the North Atlantic Cod (also fresh, not frozen) is another treat. Both are breaded fresh and cooked perfectly. Without going through the entire menu, another favorite is their grilled reuben melt made with well trimmed corned beef, Wisconsin swiss cheeses, a bit of sauerkraut (ask for more if you're a 'kraut lover like me), thousand island dressing on a toasted rye bread. I'm drooling, just remembering the last one I had.
Personally, I'm not a big burger consumer, but my fellow diners swear by their signature "Butter Burgers."
If you didn't leave room for their gold standard frozen custard, take home four of their pints and get about a 40% discount. It's always good to have a couple pints in the freezer at home. you never know when a custard craving will occur.
I apologize for the length of the review and will sum it up by saying don't take my word for it, go there and enjoy it all...
Read moreWhen this opened, it was good and I visited reasonably often. Over the last three years or so is just nosedived into a place that can't cook or five you the good you ordered.
In the last few years, I haven't had an order that was correct, or hot. Some of the mistakes are minor, like not getting a sauce on the side. Some are bigger, like things missing on burgers. Some have been ludicrous, like a burger that came without any patties. I stopped ordering for a while because I never got what was ordered and the store never seemed to care when I told them, but I have them another chance today. Low an behold, so many things wrong with the order. Everything was, at best, luke warm, but there were some fries that were so cold in the middle they can't have been far off being frozen. A burger that should have had Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and grilled onions had American cheese and none of the additional toppings. A crispy chicken sandwich that should have had ketchup didn't have ketchup. A fish dinner that should have had utensils didn't have utensils. Some of that is minor, but cold food and missing items that are upcharged is not.
It's frustrating that the store doesn't care when the issue are raised up to them, and hasn't made any effort to address these issues since this had been going on for years, but I guess it makes it an easy decision to...
Read moreI was introduced to this chain by my nephew and family while in NC. You order at the counter and they will bring the order to your table.
At the Avon location, I tried the grilled chicken sandwich with seasoned green beans. The grilled chicken was good but nothing special. The seasoned green beans were green beans with onions. My friend had the cashew chicken salad. There were lots of cashews in the salad. The tomatoes had brown spots and had little taste compared to homegrown ones. We both tried the flavor of the day custard which was turtle (Vanilla custard with chocolate and caramel sauces and nuts). My friend pointed out that you can get gluten free buns here by request--however she did say that you have to assemble your own sandwich because the gluten free ones come steamed in a package. The same friend said that the food at one in Illinois tasted better than the one here in Avon.
In NC, I had a burger with swiss cheese. Again, it was good but nothing spectacular. My sister-in-law and brother like the pot roast sandwich and the cheese curds (it's a Wisconsin thing, trust me!). The reuben sandwich didn't hold up to NY standards. My nephew likes the sweet potato fries and the custard. (The flavor of the day that day was Rocky Road. It...
