Collington Square is a lovely little park in the Broadway East neighborhood of Baltimore, where one can look out over the city and get a little respite from all the concrete and asphalt. There is a small playground for children to use, and there are some benches to sit on, under the shade of some large, old trees. There's a basketball court here, too. I get over to the park as often as the weather allows, and I am grateful for its being here. The community center and middle school that are adjacent to the park make it even more pleasant. When school is in session, at recess, one can enjoy the kids playing outside. It's not a park that seems to be used all that much, and that also makes it a nice place. On the downside, the park is not all that well maintained. It's in an historically neglected and red-lined neighborhood, so when trees fall, it can take up to a year for them to be cleared, and sometimes the grass goes unmowed for a few weeks longer than would happen in Patterson Park.
