Last evening was a heartfelt celebration, unveiling and dedication of the Centennial Patron Plaque at the Bangor Opera House, home of the Penobscot Theatre Company.
The event was so very well done, the plaques are absolutely beautiful, presentation and the management of guests was so well thought out, sound system and timing of things was perfect, nice job!
Everyone wore masks, people were mindful and respectful, and simply delighted to have the opportunity to come together as a whole. It was so good to see old friends, to gathered together in honor of the theatre’s history and for the dedicated names applied to the plaque.
Two very strong women, those who I loved and admired, both my mother and my mother in law, live on infinitely in my memory, and now have a place of honor among those names.
The staff and all associated members have worked thru major obstacles these past two years, and yet they continue to forge the way forward, they continue to shine.
For those who dedicated their time for the house improvements, I salute your effort, the rehearsal area, bathrooms and other changes, all look terrific!
The Opera House and the Penobscot Theatre Company are such an important part of Bangor’s history and a cultural arts gem.

Read moreThis has been a place my mom and I have gone for many, many years. We are usually season ticket holders and go to at least two shows a year. It was actually better than the Broadway version! We attend many shows on Broadway as well, so I think it speaks volumes to the talent at Penobscot that their performances blew the Broadway one out of the water. We have NEVER been disappointed with one of these performances. On top of such great talent the building is historic and has so much history. It's a great night out that is...
Read moreRock of Ages itself was great. Went on Sunday and seating was so disorganized. Couldn't pick our own seating like I usually do when ordering online. Got there and NO one even looked at my printed off tickets as there wasn't anyone at the door into seating. I guess I could have just gotten in for free! Then there were no seats left! Then what did I pay for?? Finally got situated that my husband and I didn't get split up in seating. It was so damn hot we almost left before we passed out. People in front of us were having the same problem. Definitely need to do something about that. I go 3 or 4 times a year, and this was not as fun as it should have been and it had nothing to do with the performance...
