If you're in the mood for some solidly good pub fare, then Paddy Murphys is the place for you. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon hoping to sit outside, but opted for a table inside by the window instead since that's what was available. The Irish pub vice is strong inside. Very nice. We started with the avocado fries. They were delicious .. crispy outside with a smooth creamy inside. For lunch, I had a delicious open- faced Reuben with sweet potato fries accompanied by a very well mixed Moscow Mule. My husband chose the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich with house fries and a Coors Light. He liked it but would probably choose something else next time. He wasn't blown away. But overall, it was a nice lunch. The service was a bit slow, but they were busier them usual according to the waitress. I would definitely go back and hope to sit outside. I saw a few burgers go by that looked good. There's a Hollandaise burger on the menu that I would like to try. Lisa Steele Author of The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook

Just had an outstanding lunch. Atmosphere was that of a traditional Irish pub from the moment you open the front door, the hardware of the door itself is gorgeous!! The wooden tables/booths, the floors, music and bar all on point. I had the soup of the day, Butternut Squash, delicious, hearty and flavorful, perfect for a crisp fall day. For my entree, I had the Bangers served with "champ" mashed potatoes, sauteed sauerkraut with diced apples and bacon and vegetables of the day, which was green beans. EVERY SINGLE BITE was delicious!!! Sweet, salty, savory. Comfort food at its best. My father and husband had the steak and cheese sandwich and the Guinees Beef Stew, both also so flavorful and delicious. The Guinness and Local Nonesure Red Ale were crisp and tasty. Cheers to the entire staff for the service and properly prepared food. Without a doubt, we will be back and I encourage anyone passing through or new to the area to stop in and enjoy as we did!!

This pub is the perfect definition of a fun, lively spot that makes you want to keep drinking and enjoying the night. The moment we walked in, we knew it was going to be a great time. Our server was incredibly friendly, helped us decide on portions, and gave us great insight into the food. The atmosphere was fantastic, with Irish music playing the whole time and decor that truly enhanced the experience. We were there for the vibe, and it did not disappoint! One of the highlights was the nightly events—they have something going on every night, even on weekdays. We happened to visit on karaoke night, which made the evening even more entertaining. This place came highly recommended by locals, and I can see why. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great pub experience in Bangor!

Patty Murphy's Pub is a hidden gem that effortlessly marries the charm of a traditional Irish pub with the allure of exceptional, home-crafted beverages and distinctive snacks. A standout experience for visitors is undoubtedly their amazing home cider. This isn't your run-of-the-mill cider; it's a masterful creation that captures the essence of expertly curated apples, resulting in a drink that's both refreshing and complex, with a depth of flavor that's absolutely to die for. It's the kind of drink that not only quenches your thirst but also leaves a lasting impression, making you yearn for just one more sip.

But what truly sets Patty Murphy's apart is their iconic gigantic pretzel. This isn't just any pretzel; it's an epicurean marvel that redefines what you thought possible in the world of baked dough. Its sheer size is a spectacle in itself, but it's the taste and texture that steal the show. Perfectly baked to achieve a golden crust while maintaining a soft, chewy interior, it's a pretzel that elevates the humble snack to new heights. Paired with their signature dipping sauces, each bite is a delightful journey through flavors and sensations.

The atmosphere at Patty Murphy's adds another layer to the experience. Stepping into the pub, you're greeted by an ambiance that's both cozy and vibrant, a place where the troubles of the outside world seem to melt away as you're immersed in good cheer and the camaraderie of fellow patrons.

In conclusion, Patty Murphy's Pub is more than just a place to grab a drink; it's a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer things in life, like a cider that dances on your palate and a pretzel that's nothing short of legendary. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to make their night out a...

Patty Murphy’s Irish Pub could be a great spot in downtown Bangor—classic pub vibes, a reasonably enjoyable bar, and a lively scene. Unfortunately, there’s a glaring issue that left us, and evidently many others, disappointed.

When we arrived at 11 p.m., expecting to grab a drink before their advertised closing time of midnight, we were surprised to find the door already locked and signs removed. A heavyset bouncer/bartender seemed to be more interested in closing up than welcoming customers, despite a good 10-15 patrons still enjoying themselves inside. His attitude? Frankly, rude and condescending. It’s clear he’s in a hurry to close up as early as possible, dismissing potential patrons and taking the warmth out of what could be a great spot.

This approach is a recipe for dwindling business, as people get turned away earlier and earlier each night. Regulars and new patrons alike are bound to start looking elsewhere. Other places in town are welcoming well past 11, and there’s no reason Patty Murphy’s couldn’t meet this standard if it were staffed by someone who actually valued hospitality.

Lastly, the limited food service hours are another letdown. It’s hard to understand why food is cut off at 9PM, especially when other places keep the kitchen open until 9:30 or 10 p.m. It’s a missed opportunity for this pub to be a true late-night destination.

Hopefully, management takes note of these issues because Patty Murphy’s has the potential to be one of the best spots in Bangor—if they put hospitality and customer...

After many years of walking past Paddy Murphy’s, my wife and I finally decided to stop in for dinner before a show at the Penobscot Theatre. We started with appetizers, Hungarian mushroom soup for me, and French onion for my wife. Mine was rich and flavorful, absolutely delicious. My wife’s, however, was... well, not. It wasn’t just bad French onion soup, it didn’t taste like onion at all. More like dishwater.

We didn’t plan to complain; it was just a bowl of soup, and we were still looking forward to our entrées. We simply set it aside and shared mine. But our server noticed the untouched bowl and asked about it.

And here’s where I want to pause and give real credit. In today’s service industry, genuine concern is rare. Far too often, customers are rushed in and out like cattle with hollow pleasantries and an ever-growing expectation for bigger and bigger tips. But our server showed real attentiveness. When I told her the soup seemed off, she thanked us sincerely for the feedback and said it mattered. That alone stood out.

Later, she came back to tell us the kitchen had tasted the soup and agreed; something was off. My wife’s entrée (a take on shepherd’s pie) and my burger (the Celtic Warrior, if memory serves) were both excellent; comforting, flavorful, and well-prepared. To top it off, our server not only took the soup off the bill, she even gave us a to-go bowl of the Hungarian mushroom.

We’ll absolutely be back for the food, but it’s the service that...
